S I G M A Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 can anyone tell me how exactly you fish a torpedo? Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 24, 2007 Super User Posted September 24, 2007 There 's actually no wrong way to fish a Torpedo, the most common way is to cast the bait, wait until the ripples dissapear and then give it 2-3 jerks, reel in the slack line and repeat again but many times you reel in the bait and it catches fish ( something akin to a buzzbait ). jaystraw Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I love the Torpedo. My buddy gave me one of his old ones, and I immediately caught a smallmouth on it, and then another, and another, and so on. It's been one of the best producing lures for me in the late summer. I use all listed above until I find the one they are looking for. I always cast out and let it sit for at least 10 seconds. I usually start with just a straight retrieve. If they are missing it, I'll slow it down, and/or pause during the retrieve. It seems that the smallmouth just love it. Quote
jb_adams Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I caught my first bass on one as a kid by just reeling it in like a buzzbait. I didn't know how to fish it either and it seemed logical at the time when I was about 12. I still have that bait too. (haha) I should take it out of my tackle bag but, I just don't have the heart to retire it. I never use these anymore because I fish really clear water. Come to think of it, I've caught several on a Hula Popper in the same color in clear water. I should try these again. Maybe it will get me off my fixation with Zara puppies.....I just can't put that clear one down. I can count on a strike with it if I want to find bass even when they aren't biting. Quote
