heathen Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Well its been a long time coming. I have always wanted to give the JDM reels a go and just see what there all about. So last weekend I set out searching on this site and asked a few members some questions behind the lines and decided to go with a Daiwa Airy Red Pixy and a Daiwa Alpha (purple) as my first 2 JDM reels. Super User Jimzee Posted October 6, 2007 Super User Posted October 6, 2007 Excellent choices!! You're gonna be suprised how far they cast. I can almost empty the spool on my Alphas with a 1/2 oz. trap. Quote
The_Natural Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 The purple alphas (besides being a great reel), has absolutely the best paint job I've ever seen on a reel. It's not only the most durable paint job, but the pearl coat is just unreal...it has a super-fine bronze/gold fleck in the pearl coat.. It is extremely durable, too. The Pixy will impress you the most though upon initial use. Nice reels... Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 one day im gonna get some JDM reels but for now I dont have that kind of money Quote
Super User islandbass Posted October 6, 2007 Super User Posted October 6, 2007 Congrats on those beautiful reels! 8-) You do what I do with the line except I loop it onto the reel foot. What rods did you have in mind for them? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted October 6, 2007 Super User Posted October 6, 2007 Welcome to the dark side. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted October 7, 2007 Super User Posted October 7, 2007 I'm not a big JDM fan but those are some nice looking reels. Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 8, 2007 Super User Posted October 8, 2007 Good catch. One word of advice, if you want those reels to cast like a dream you need to oil the spool supporting bearings every trip or two, a drop of oil and they are ready to go. Quote

I 've had the Alphas Itö since mid 2005, the Type F since mid 2006, first Pixy since mid 2005, second Pixy since late 2006, about 2 months ago I got my 3rd Pixy. If didn 't think so highly about them I would not have purcahsed so many. Quote

My boat is red and my custom rod(s) color scheme is purp/blue on black blanks,.....I want them both also!! lol Quote
Lightninrod Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 Now you're talkin'! My two Pixys are right at the top of my favorites list. Dan Quote
