Hey Fellas: while I still love the Pflueger Presidnt Spinning reels the best, and really like thier BaitCasting Trions, I have recently bought a reel that is becoming my favorite. I bought a used BPS Pro Qualifier from Cart 7 earlier in the year ( just got 2 more from flea market)  The external brake, aluminum frame and bearings are all grat, thats a lot more value for me than what i get for same dollar amount with the Pflueger. I am having them all serviced soon. Question: I bought one from Pond Hopper he said the plastic gears can sometimes be troublesome IS THERE A SUCH THING AS A METAL REPLACEMENT GEAR for this problem? Which i havent yet experienced my self. Any way I am liking the casting and the whole reel itself better the the Trion, which is still a great reel!

a lot of reels have plastic parts.the gear for the line guide is almost always plastic.the reason for this is if your guide jams because you didin't clean your reel it will strip the plastic gear instead of doing other damage.it's kind of like a fuse.i have 2 rick clunns which are almost the same reel as yours.i love them.i think the externally adjustable magnetic/centrifugal hybrid brake is the best design i've seen yet.
