Ultralight

I was wondering if you guys could steer me in the right direction.  I am looking to get a decent ultralight set up, without spending a ton of $.  I just spent over $500 on upgrades to me bass rods and reels.  I want one more rod and reel for light tackle and pan fish.  Let me know name and type of ultralight you like, thanks!!!

I definately recommend the Pflueger Trion ultra light model. Small.....very light....and very durable.

Teamed it up with a BPS Ultralight glass rod. Which is okay for the price at 19.99. I know my wife loves the rod as she has pulled in some nice bass with it. Sensitivity is pretty good but maybe someone can give you a better recommendation for a rod. But the Trion GX is definately a thumbs up from me.

But if your not going to be using it a lot than I would recommend the BPS ultralight glass rod. For catching bream and brook trout this application has done what I need it to do. Not a big ultralight fisherman myself so I'm not going to spend a ton of money on high end ultralight gear.

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you call ultra light.  You might look at a Gloomis GL2 or GL3 5'10" and a Shimano Symmetry in the 1500 size.  I have a couple and they are pretty good.  My wife prefers the 5'6" Bionic blade rod over the longer Gloomis.  My most favorite is the 5' Fenwick HMG with a Symmetry.

I do a lot of crappie fishing and find that the B&M "Sam's Super Sensitive" in 7' length fits the bill for me, for casting 1/32 oz. and 1/16 oz. jigs. Great folks there too! I've matched it up with a Shimano Symetre 750FI reel (their smallest size) and 2# test Shakespear "Super Smooth" mono. A very fine set-up - IMO.

If i  was u id make  sure u get a rod 5 foot or more the short ones dont have much tip action and dont cast as far .I have 2 ultra lights  both are the same reel and rod 600u garcias and plfuegar gold medalist rods i use 4 lb and 2 lb Berkely Xt in green .and dont forget to get some 00 mepps and small floating rapalas

Good on brookies, blue gill, pumpkinseed, and even the LM bass love the chartruse colored ones.

I agree on the rod length. I have a 5'6" length and feel that it's perfect for my situation.

yeah thats the one i got. i like it alot. never let me down...till i dropped it and the bail got bent and then wouldnt opperate right. i fixed it tho its all good now, still preforms to my expectations.

For a reel, I'd buy the Abu Garcia C801.  Abu has hit a home run with the 800 series spinning reel just like they have with the Revo - probably better, even.  I don't think there is a spinning reel out there that really compares for under $400-$500.  The C801 is their smallest one.

Shimano Clarus 5'6" UL Rod 59.99 Lifetime warranty and Shimano Symetre 1500.  Not a posse member yet but close Used this combo for a while. Has not let me down yet. You could save a few bucks and get the Sahara 1500 or Daiwa Exceler 1500 to keep the aluminum frame.
