TournyFish001 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 This reel looks amazing especially for 69.99, a Daiwa 7:1!!! it's probly not out yet but dang- what a deal- I am also sure it is not made of the same quality as the high end Daiwa's but it sure looks nice! Quote
Olebiker Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I haven't seen it yet, but if it is anywhere near the quality of other Daiwa casting reels, it will be a dandy. I just replaced a couple of old reels with 2 Daiwa Magforce PR100H reels. I do believe they are as slick as my Revo at half the cost. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Graphite frame, heavy, and gimicky.........I am a Daiwa fan, but I'll pass on this one. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Yup it is the heavy $59 version of the Viento.. Now they have gimmicks in both high and low end reels.. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Graphite frame, heavy, and gimicky.........I am a Daiwa fan, but I'll pass on this one. exactly what i thought. sure the twitchin bar is cool, but on a $60 the twichin bar probably aint the same as on teh viento, and the rest of the reel probably sucks too! USA-Retired Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Yeah, it's heavy but for $70, what can you expect. I think it's interesting that they put a twitching bar on it and would like to see how it operates. If it does the same job as on the Viento or the Smak, it's worth looking at for the angler than can't pop $200 for a Baitcasting reel with that option. Some make call it a gimick, but I actually like using it whe I fish Senkos or other finese baits. It does impart a unique twitch to the bait that is very difficult to recreate without using the twitching bar. It's also very consistent in it's retreive each time you hit the bar. The down side..... with the twitching bar on a heavy reel, you'll probably get tired of holding it in just one hand ;D Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted October 1, 2007 Super User Posted October 1, 2007 whats the smark? is that another daiwa reel w/ the bar??? and yeah i do like the twitchin bar. my friend has a viento and it does come in handy. no problems with it...yet. Quote
Super User Micro Posted October 1, 2007 Super User Posted October 1, 2007 I think the profit-margin on fishing equipment is astronomical. There's no reason someone can't make a decent fishing reel and sell it for $60. Give it a whirl. It's gotten good reviews by users at Cabelas. Quote
