hello all, I have been looking around for a while, and finally decided to make my first post. I will be going to bass pro shops in January. I will have about $500 to spend there, and have been considering two options. At first I wanted to get 3 St croix premiers, 2 baitcasting, and 1 spinning. I also was going to get another abu revo s and an abu 500alb spinning reel. Then I decided to get the falcon lowriders unstead of the premiers. Now, I am considering a shimano curado and a G Loomis IMX baitcasting combo. I just can make up my mind! Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

To start off, just what type of rod, action, length are you looking for with each outfit you want to buy and just what techniques are you wanting to fish with them?  That would make this a whole lot easier.

For me it would be a no brainer:

G.Loomis and a Shimano Curado are a match made in heaven.

I think is is more important to focus on quality, not quantity. Build your arsenal one at a time. The Loomis/ Shimano combination is one that you will fish the rest of your life.

I'd go for a Loomis MBR844C IMX and a Curado 100.

This is an easy one...G Loomis IMX MRB843C (though an 844C would be good, but I think as an all around rod, an 843C is a little better) and the Curado 100 D.  I have both the 843C and 844C along with the Curado 100 D and I love it.  Though, make sure when you use the combo that the reel screw is down tight.  There has been some discussions on here about the Curado 100 being a little loose in the reel seat.

As a guy who owns a MG50 / custom 844IMX  combo, I have to agree with Raul, 100%  (and less than $50 more than the Curado)

But if you are just building your rod/reel inventory, I would look to get a couple good quality combos vs. one high end.  More like your original question.  Revo's Citica's and Curado's are all very nice reels.  The St. Croix, Falcon and even the All Stars are great rods for the money.  You need to figure out what you want each combo to do and rthen we can help you better decide which pairings make the most sense.

Welcome Aboard! I just purchased two new Avids an absolutely love them. I can tella world of difference in the quality of my new roads compared to the old ones. Be careful with this site as it has happily seperated plenty of cash from my wallet. The bait monkey keeps calling my name.

The Loomis is a very lite rod.  I have a curado which weighs about 8oz.  The Reve premier coming out super soon is 6.1 ozor 6.3 .   I hoping it's a quality reel, like the curado  and if so  then why put a heavy reel on a lite rod?

I just bought my first curado and will definately buy some more.  It cast's like a dream.  And pair it with a loomis and you'll be set.
