Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 14, 2007 Super User Posted September 14, 2007 hows this rod? http://www.allstarrods.com/as_instinct.html how are the guides on that? does being "single footed" make them weaker? also, doesnt the tip on that rod look weird? it looks like a normal guide, not a tip guide. also, how is all stars warranties? i read on there werbsite that they only cover the rod if its a manufacture defect and its up to them wether or not it is, and its 20bucks just to have them look at it. that doesnt sound like any good warranty to me. Super User Micro Posted September 14, 2007 Super User Posted September 14, 2007 I've got several All Star rods, but no Instincts. I've never had to use the warranty, but I certainly wasn't put off by it. All Star rods seem to be very vell made. I think the Instinct is their economy model made in China. But the components seem very nice (that's a normal rod tip). I've held them in stores and if I were in the market for a rod in that price range I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Quote

Single foot guides when properly mounted/wrapped are no weaker than double foot guides and a butt load lighter. How can you tell what the tip in that product shot looks like, looks like a tip top to me. The warranty isn't a no questions asked warranty just like most good rod manufacturers carry. Remember that AllStar Rod's is owned by Shakespeare®, and G-Loomis® is now owned by Shimano® Tight Lines!!! Quote
