Next season I am going to begin with more knowledge and more experience than this previous fishing year. I plan on carrying 4 rod set ups.

Worm/Jig Rod - I am thinking about a braid with fluoro leader

Flippin/carolina/frogging- I was thinking about straight braid, with a leader for C-rigs, but will braid mess up my frogging(the topwater kind, not the soft plastic kind). I know that fluoro sinks, which wouldn't be good for this application. And how will my jigging go if I just tie the braid to the jig? Will the bass notice the line?

M and a H crank/jerk/topwater/ swimbait rod with 10 and 12 mono

When using a leader for worming/jigging should I learn a line to line knot or just a swivel with 2 ' of leader? I am not good with line to line knots at all.

Some bass may notice the line some bass wont.  Depends on the bass and the water clarity.

Practice with a thin rope to learn the knot.  Then practice with the fishing line.  I use the uni-uni knot for line to line.

I use 50lb PowerPro with a 15 lb fluoro leader.  I have used a blood knot and a uni to uni and in both cases, the fluoro cuts through the braid after a while.  I began using a swivel and I've had no problems.  I could be doing something wrong.  If so, I welcome any suggestions.

I never had any luck using braid with a fluoro leader.  I must be doing something wrong.  I was attaching the two together with a surgeon's knot.   Just about evertime I would cast the knot would bump inside one of my guides throwing my cast off.

Are you wraping the line enough??? I wrap the braid maybe 4 or 5 times, but I usually wrap the floro two more times than the braid. I'm surely no knot expert, but that would be my guess on what's happening.

A surgeons knot is strong, but it is an offset knot, not an inline one like the uni to uni. The knot will throw the line out of balance and act as a hook on the guides. It's not a good casting knot.

The best knot I have used is the Albright Special.  If the leader is .017 or smaller (17 to 20 # floro) the knot will pass through the guides without a problem.   If the braid is smaller than 20/6 you will need to double the braid to keep it from cutting through the leader.   If you have trouble with the knot, coat it with super glue.

Florocarbon has memory so cut the leader the length from the reel to the rod tip, or from the rod tip to the hook keeper.

I use the floro leader with all baits in clear water, with all spinner baits to keep the soft braid away from the blades, and with any treble hook baits if the braid tangles in the hooks.
