I recently purchased a Shimano Symetre 1500 reel (Front Drag model) and was wondering if anyone on here has used one of these, and if so what there personal review of the reel is.

Thanks

I think the Symetre is perhaps the best value in spinning reels you can buy.

Still $80 bucks?

Well, it's smooth, strong, reliable, priced well below similar reasons.

I have yet to hear a satisfactory reson why the stradic is worth the extra $$$

I have used them both and prefer the symetre.

I bought my Stradics from Dicks for $79.00. I have both and there does not seem to be a difference in quality of either reel.

Stradics or Symetre? That's a hell of a deal for a Stradic...

I am a big Shimano fan in general.  They are the only kind of reels I own.

I don't have the 1500 but I do have 6 Symmetrys.  They are 7 or 8 years old and get used many many times each year.  I do keep them cleaned and lubed.  I also have Stradics and the big difference is the extra bearing in the handle shaft unless there is a quality difference that is not apparent to the eye.   I have only had to replace a couple of clutch assemblies and 1 bail spring.  That is not too bad considering the use and time factor.

I never used spinning gear for anything but pan fish. After hearing on here about how good they are in a given situation I bought a Symetre and picked up a decent 6'MH rod and now I carry it every time I go fishing. I really like the Symetre :o...
