Well I finally got all my equipment in the mail today (g. loomis 783 glx and stella 2500fd).  UPS didn't get to my apartment until ~7:00pm tonight, so by the time I got everything set up and put the line on I didn't have much time to fish once I got down to the river before it was too dark.  After the first cast and retrieve I could tell that this was a MAJOR improvement over my old set up (although my old setup will still serve it's purposes).  Maybe after 5 casts or so I finally hooked up with a 1.5 - 2lb smallie.  The feel and sensitivity of this rod is amazing.  Thanks for all the recommendations in my previous thread - I'm very pleased with this purchase, I just wish there was a little more day light!  The only thing that I found a bit disappointing was that the stella didn't come with an extra spool.  You'd figure for that kind of money they would give you an extra spool!  It's an amazing reel nevertheless, and I can't wait to get out and really spend some time with this new rig.

On a side note I also got some yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft...for those that use it, do you recommend changing the washers in the reel to change the spool "shape"  I didn't notice any backlash or tangles or whatever, but I noticed in the stella manual that it recommended changing the washers for fluorcarbon line to change the spool shape.  Thanks!

Nope.

Fish it just like it came, you'll be very pleased.

;D ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations!

8-)

p.s. I felt the same way about the additional spool, but I have two spools for other Shimano reels that I have NEVER used.   ::o

I have a Stradic and a Sustain 2500 and I tend to fish a lot of weightless soft plastic. I use either the regular Yo-Zuri or P-Line.  I have taken one washer of each to reduce the amount of backlashes I get.  The line seems to spool towards the back unless a weight is used or a washer is taken off.
