Hey all, this is my first post. I've been reading the forums for awhile but had'nt registered as a member until today. After seeing all the recent posts about the good avid deals I went to dicks today and scored two avid series rods for $75 a piece!

Here's my question: Listing all my components can you guys help me match everything up so that I have all my bases covered? All rods/reels are casting.

reels:

Abu 5600cb

quantum e500cp (it's 12 years old, but I love it and it works)

quantum accurist pt

browning midas

pfleuger echelon

rods:

triumph 7' M/H

all-star instinct 6'6 M

BPS extreme 7' M/H

premier glass 7' M

premier 7' M

Avid 7' M/H

Avid 7' M

basically I just want some input on what to match up with what so that I know what two rods to sell. Also, If someone is looking to get rid of a revo sx, then I'd have part of my problem solved. Thanks guys.

That is a great deal. to bad my dicks only holds the premier other wise id get them.

Same for me and it stinks!!!  I just paid 120 which isn't a bad deal but it sure isn't 75 dollars either.

Welcome to the site.

Check the "Fishing Flea Market" on this site, there are a couple Revo SX's for sale.

I was at the dicks at town center in leawood, kansas. It's a very big store so the selection is good.

Is there a link to a thread that discusses the ideal uses for vavrious action and strength of rods, (i.e. 6'6 - 7' M/H for spinnerbaits, 7' ML for dropshot, etc.)? If so could someone post it as a reply? Thanks in advance.

Stopped by Dicks again and asked the sales guy to check the price.  And the St. Croix Avids are $75 and so are the Shimano Stradics.   ;D

I picked up a Stradic 2500 and an Avid AS68MXF.  WOW.......what a deal.

roadwarrior thanks for the link. That's a really good write-up.

I've been to 2 locations and bought st. croix's on sale at both of them. Both times the rods were half price or better, had'nt been marked down, and the staff did'nt know they were on sale either. Additionally, when the sales guy used the hand-held price scanner thing it showed that the rods were slightly more than the price they rang up at. For example, the avids were 99.97 when scanned, but rang up as 74.98.

There may be other items on sale that have'nt been marked, but certainly find what you want, take it to the register and have them scan it. Don't just write it off if it does'nt have a sale sticker on it.

Do however continue to post if you find out that other items are on sale so that we can all get in on it.

The reason for the price breaks on the avids in racks at this time, is that St.Croix has started production of the new Avid series rods with the IPC and ART technology that the upper end LT and LE rods were only privy to.

I have been in contact with my St.Croix rod blank distributor, and she has confirmed they are in production but no one knows when they will hit the store racks. One thing she passed on to me is that they will have a higher MSRP. Also the new modifications to the LE and LT rods with the split grips, will also have a new higher MSRP...

Tight Lines All!!!!
