moby bass Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Does anyone use or have any overall opinions of the Shimano Clarus rods? Quote
Guest btlva Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Yeah I have one (6' M) that I bought several years ago. For the price it's really not bad at all. I mostly use it for short-range spinnerbaiting and sometimes plastics or finesse jigs. Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 22, 2007 Super User Posted August 22, 2007 I have several of them, good rods for the price, not the lightest, not the most sensitive but they get the job done for a good price and are better than many rods in the same class. Quote

Hey Raul how do you think they match up with Fenwicks in that price range lets say The HMX? or GT? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 22, 2007 Super User Posted August 22, 2007 From the ones you mention Muddy the HMX is a lot more expensive, so the Clarus is not in it 's class, the Compre would be in that class, both are similar being the HMX a little more sensitive. Clarus vs GT, would be a tough nut to crack when it comes to performance, the place where the Clarus beats the crap out of the GT is that with the Clarus you have as much as 3+ more times from where to choose in length, power, action single or two piece than what you have available in the GT. As an owner of one myself, I agree with Raul 100% I have a Med Action 2-piece and it has served me very well. It is the complement to the new compre I acquired last week. IM7 Graphite, Alumunium Oxide Guides, Fuji Reel seat, lifetime warranty; at that price point it is very tough to beat. It is sufficiently sensitve for non to very light weighted soft plastics. I have worked, smallie beavers, yum dingers, senkos, hula grubs, tubes, and drop shotted with it with great success in a 30 plus bass day. Not too shabby for a two piece. 8-) Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted August 22, 2007 Super User Posted August 22, 2007 These are my GO TOO rods With fuji guides and reel seats you aint gonna find a better deal i have 6 of them so far so good havent had to return them to the store for anything they do what i need and do it with ease. And i dont baby um .The lifetime warrenty is the best around if you ask me. My buddy had a few broke one took it back to that store NQA and got a brand new one .Sports authority had the ones i bought on clearance for 34 a piece 5 casting rods and 1 spinning Quote
Ghetto_Basser Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I own 1 7 foot Clarus but I own 3 St Croix's but for the money I would go with St Croix over Shimano or Fenwick Quote
bassdocktor Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I was sent one as a replacement when my Jimmy Houston signature rod broke. It's been a great rod. I've often looked at buying another 1 or 3 but for some reason have always picked something different. Still a nice rod. Quote
