You must let me know where this pond is RW ;)

Neshoba is the name of the pond. It is the centerpiece of a park at Germantown Parkway and Wolf Creek, behind what used to be the old Wal-Mart.

I have heard about this place, except when I heard it was behind the old walmart I thought it was still behind a walmart and I drove up and down the street looking for it for like 2 hours lol, found the lake but didn't think that it was the one, thanks for clearing it up.

For many years, my favorite buzzbait has been the "Lunker City" buzzbait, I believe it was also the first buzzbait introduced.

But then a few years back I read about a buzzbait claiming to stay on top during the slowest forward speeds...it was the "Cavitron"

Since that time and for the last several years the Cavitron has been the only hard buzzbait I use (1/4oz Red Blade / Black Skirt).

Megastrike bought out Cavitron in 2005, but the quality has not suffered (happily, they didn't milk it down).

The Cavitron is loud at low speeds, the blade holes make a sporadic bubble trail (for what it's worth) and it uses a Gamakatsu hook

Frankly, I've become partial to "soft" buzzbaits of late, but whenever I throw a hard buzzbait it's always a Cavitron.

Id like to add my 2 cents to this thread as well. I got my Cavitron by a request on the Sept 11 Giveaway.

Went to my "Practice" Pond today and decided to just give a few casts ,just to see what everyone was talking about. I wasnt expecting to catch ANYTHING. The wind was blowing,Algae all over the surface, It was an Ugly day,but I said what the heck.

On about the 4th cast I was steadily retrieving the Cavitron,Crawled it over a mat of Algae and just as it reached the edge,WHAM!! A LMB came out of nowhere and snatched the bait up. The fish was only about 4 feet from the bank and caught me totally unexpectedly. I probably couldve seen it sitting there if I had been wearing my sunglasses.

Wasnt anything of great size, maybe 14 inches. I was impressed. I moved to another spot and 2 casts later I saw my line snap and creep through the eyelets. I made a hasty retreat to some dry land behind me,Emptied my pockets and waded in to the water to retrieve my ine before it sank,Thus Saving my Cavitron.

Needless to say,I was now wet up to my waist. This was the conclusion of my fishing day. Overall I was satisfied and very Impressed.

Cavitrons work,I cant wait to try it on the big lake I fish.

Well thanks to this thread, I purchased a 1/4oz Cavitron with gold prop blade and a shad colored white/grey mix skirt. At first, sounded like any other buzzbait. The more I threw it, the louder it became with this annoying sqeal. After about 20 casts (no stikes) it became similar to the sound of a small bird chirping and flapping around on the water. It's not the slowest buzzbait to me but it does have a unique sound that I think makes it a great buzzbait and makes it stand out from most. That squealing chirping sound it makes is enough to get the attention of a hungry bass 30 yards away.

Sadly, I finally find a spot in the cove where the bass are and the line snapped on a cast and down to the bottom she sank. I am hoping to go back this afternoon and see if I can find it. If not, the baitmonkey has already hounded me about buying two more and replacing a few of the "never used" buzzbaits I already have.

As for the slowest buzzbait, I'd compare the Strike King Tri-Wing Buzz King. It is the slowest in my opinion. I have to crawl this buzzbait to get it to chirp the water like the Cavitron. This is a rather quiet buzzbait though and sounds a lot more natural and less "noisy". It just makes girgling and chirping water sounds. It was good enough to catch my personal best and 13 other bass in a day though. That's not including the short strikes that day that missed the bait. Add 5 more strikes to that number.

I'm not saying the Buzz King is better, just different. I like the Cavitron and I will be trying it out on the pond where I caught 14 bass on the Buzz King. It has very dirty water and the bubble trails will be awesome.
