Super User roadwarrior Posted August 13, 2007 Super User Posted August 13, 2007 I have a Calais 200A (6.2:1) that I like quite a lot. The Platnium Service Plan is a nice touch, too! http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCA.html Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted August 13, 2007 Super User Posted August 13, 2007 Looks like a plan. I have mine saddled up to a St. Croix AC66MF, but I'm probably going to match it up with a G.Loomis PR844C at some point. As long as your doing a little shopping, check that rod out and see what you think. I have the twin (PR844S) which is my favorite spinning rod. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 13, 2007 Super User Posted August 13, 2007 I have both a Zillion 100SHLA and a Calais 201A. Both are great reels but the Calais is sort like fishing a Rolls Royce. It is supper smooth and a pleasure to fish with. On the other hand the Zillion is a work horse of a reel. It easy to operate, lighter than the Calais and can cast a country mile. The only thing I have had trouble with is casting light weight stuff with the Zillion but what I use it for it's not a big deal. If you service your reel every year the Platnium Service RW spoke of will save you a couple of bucks in the long run. Quote

jayhawkfishin Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Look at the calais 100, I think its a better size. I have big hands and the 100 feels a lot better than the 200 which i did have but traded it for an 100. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted August 15, 2007 Super User Posted August 15, 2007 I have both as well. I prefer the Zillion. Either way, you can;t go wrong. It's like comparing an E55 Benz to a M5 BMW. Both are great, it just depends on what you like. Quote
