I use it on one of my two worm rods, on my C-rig rod as the main line though I use mono or Flouro for the leader and on my flippin/pitchin stick.  I've used the stuff since it first came out and it definitely has as many advantages as disadvantages.  Superior feel especially with a uber sensitive rod but the line wrap issue is annoying along with the abrasive resistance.  Backlashes, line loops, line dig in along with the inability to break off easy when you need to are more minuses.

Also, if you get a bad backlash...you're screwed!

I've found the P-Line to be very user friendly on the backlash issue, "or should I say I've seen a friend backlash" ;) and was better than the Spiderwire or Berkley "they" used in the past.  Also heard good things about suffix.

Wow, I am happy about this post. Everyone maintained well. I really thought it would be a shooting match. I am not a braid hater. I just don't like the feel of it. And yes, I can see where it can be a tool for top waters in the spatterdock or in the slop. I personaly will never use it again but, it certainly can be a good tool. Thanks for keeping it kind. ;) Now, about that crappy brittle, too stiff, pure Flourocarbon..................

Don't hijack your own thread!

Start another... 8-)

I use braid for one thing only and that's flipping. It sucks on anything else. I use Triple Fish Flourocarbon for my dropshot and senkos and I use Izorline Copoly for everything else.

I dont under stand the whole "braid wrapping around the rod tip" thing.

I use braid almost exclusively, and can't for the life of me figure out what you guys are referring to. I just have not had that problem at all...

One trip to Fla. inshore fishing really made me rethink my line choices quite a few years back.  Now I use braid on probably 90% of my rigs.

All my spinning reels have fireline except 1 which has Flouro.  Never have rod wrap, twist, or memory issues.  It is more sensitive and further casting than mono or flouro without the memory.

On baitcasters I'd say I have braid on all but my crankbait rod.  Had been using stealth but did have some tip wrap.  Lately have switched to ultracast which is a little stiffer and haven't had any tip wrap.  Same advantages as above.

If I think it is necessary I use a flouro leader.  If you know how to tie one it is fast, reliable and long lasting.  For my fishing systems, any "hassle" associated with using a leader is well worth the positive trade-offs of the braid.

why do you guys think that tip wrap is only on braid? it happens on any kind of line!

The "new and improved" Trilene XT is the ONLY line I have ever had consistant line wrapping around the tip issues. I had the problem the first couple outings with PowerPro, but since it "broke in", I have not had the issue.

I have PowerPro 50/12 on one setup that I rarely reach for.  I use it for pitching heavy cover or slop.  For anything else I hate the stuff.  I have not had any "wrapping around the tip" problems with it(or XT).

I use the new XT on all my other baitcasters and I love the stuff except I can't throw a country mile with the 17 lb, but then I rarely cast more then 40-50 ft anyway.  Except a Trap, I'll fling them for all their worth.  I know everyone else has said they hate this line (and I could see that on a spinning reel) but whatever Berkley did to it I like it.  It seems tougher, and for a mono, whatever stretch and memory there is doesn't bother me one bit.

The last guy I fished with had PowerPro on ALL his reels and he got out-fished BIG time.  He was really frustrated and danced around every excuse in the book but his line.  I DO think that was a small part of his problem in the very clear water we were fishing.  I never brought it up because I know he'd have had a fit if I did.  Not my problem so I didn't care.
