I just use a plain ol' round toothpick. $1.00 for 500 of them. ::)

What brand? ;)

I guess that's the more common way to do it. I'll have to raid some from the restaurant at the golf course...

Diamond,  and the count was wrong.  $1.00 for 750 of them.  I though it was 500 in a box. :-?

Toothpicks work fine, but are crude, and I don't like using them. I use Tru-Tungsten weights exclusivly now, and find there "smart peg" system works fantastic. More expensive than toothpicks but I like how they work.

I use the parasite weights all the time when fishing a weight and when I am fishing weightless I use just the parasite clips. They save me alot on plastics. They keep my plastics from sliding down the hook. They work very well when I am fishing heavy cover, lilypads or something like that. I do  not have to stop and fix my bait all the time which is a plus for me. (More time fishing) ;D

I am not sure if I can post a link or not to you but I can describe how they work to you. Or at the very least try to.. ;D

The first pic I have are the weights and clips. Weights are available fro m1/8 to 1 ounce and they also come in tungsten. I usually use the 1/8 lead weight.

I first thread my weight on prior to applying my hook and then I start my texas rig. I then run the loop of the parasite weight on the hook and finish my texas rig. The clip is rigged the same way as well. The minute that you have tension on the line the weights peg themselves.  Here are a few of my pics.

Here is a brush puppy with a texas rig started and the clip added.

This is how it looks fully set up.

This is a clip that is rigged. This is what I use when I fish weightless.

I hope this helps to explain them a little.

I hardly ever peg a weight but that's an interesting concept  ;)

Very interesting system indeed.  Where can you buy these parasite weights?

Here

I use these "stops", one before the weight and one after the weight.  They 'trap' the weight between them and they(along with weight) can easily and smoothly be moved anywhere on the line.  They won't damage the line as toothpicks might.

I just checked out the link that bass pro has to the parasite clip and I noticed that they are using a clip which is supposed to be for weightless fishing, and adding a weight to it. I think that this defeats the point of using just the clip. The clip is used just for weightless applications and the parasite weight itself has a loop already attached to it which is what you would use in a pegged weight application. It appears in the photo as if it is not rigged correctly as well. Perhaps I should contact someone and let them know.

I don't know how parasite clips work, I don't know why they work - I just know they work!!!  BTW, I called our local Cabellas to see if they had some in stock several months ago and the computer showed they were out.  Several weeks later I went into the store to check and was told "this is a BPS exclusive" - I asked them whey they had them in the computer then????

I haven't tried the weights yet, but do fish the clips along with regular bullet weights.  They are awsome - I have fished with one set up for a whole day before without ever having to reset the worm or getting hung in the grass.

lightning - are these the types of stops that you can reel through the guides onto the spool?  reason I ask is for slip-floats

Tony, I d/k :-/.  Never tried to but I would guess you could as they are tiny and should fit through most guides.

I use the "Water Gremlin" sinker stoppers. They are tiny split bullets. You just pinch them on like a split shot in front of your regular bullet sinker. They are very easy and don't hurt the line. Check them out.

If I know ahead of time that I need to peg the weight I use the bobber stops.  Excellent.

I also have a bunch of of Screw in weights.  Excellent

If already rigged, and weight need is light will pinch on a WG splitshot or bullshot.  good

If conditions are really rough,  I use my fishin glue or loctite ca and glue the weight to the top of the worm.  Desperate.
