Super User skunked_again Posted July 15, 2007 Super User Posted July 15, 2007 with rods you dont like? i have a 6'6" rod that drives me crazy due to the handle being too long. has anyone sold rods on ebay? Quote
jdw174 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I've sold several rods on EBay. Never had a problem. Make sure when you ship that you package them right. I used PVC pipe and padded the inside with newspaper at both ends, as well as wrapping the rod itself. I glued the cap on one end of the pipe and fastened the other with duct tape (liberally applied). At that time, shipping via UPS was around $12 per rod, not including the cost of the PVC. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 15, 2007 Super User Posted July 15, 2007 I rarely sell rods anywhere anymore unless they're premium rods or I have multiple rods I can sell. Anything over 6' long falls under oversized charges with any of the shippers and the price shoots up. Normally I was paying around $17 - 22 to ship a pair of rods in a tube around 3 1/2" in diameter, priority with confirmation in the US. I understand prices have bumped up a little since then. Unless the rod is a premo rod, you just won't get what the thing is worth. Quote

Super User Marty Posted August 7, 2007 Super User Posted August 7, 2007 I can't stand long handles. If you really like this rod, you can cut off a length from the end that suits you and cover it with a rubber chair leg tip which then becomes the new butt cap. Quote
Super User flechero Posted August 8, 2007 Super User Posted August 8, 2007 If you like the rod except for the handle length- the easiest fix it to cut the handle off where you want it and then file/sand the cork a little bit to accomodate this butt cap for a finished off, factory look. You'll probably need size 1. I ship rods all over the country and it averages beteween $20 and $30 depending on location and amount of insurance. Quote
