Which would you choose and why?

Daiwa Viento

or

BPS Johnny Morris Signature

I currently have the JM Signature but had a chance to use the Viento this weekend and here's my impression in a nutshell...

I like the smoothness of the JM Signature and it feels better constructed.  Of course, I love the twitchin' bar on the Viento but it lacks some the smoothness of the JM Signature and I also like that the cast control knob on the JM signature clicks while making adjustments.  Lastly, it seemed like the Viento casts a bit farther than the JM Signature.  Anyway...I can only afford one.  Which would you choose and why?

Thanks,

Jason

I have a Viento and like it just fine. However, I bought it because of the twitchin bar feature and found I really don't use it much. I would not make the purchase based on the twitcin bar but otherwise it is a nice reel.

i'd go w/ the viento, cuz i dont know how well constructed BPS reels are, and i dont know how long they will last. usualy store brand stuff isnt as great. i mean, which would you buy? Food Lion-O's or Cheerio's? no brainer eh? plus the twitchin bar just kicks major ***. its perfect if you fish plastics alot. daiwa is know for making nice reels.

Go with the bps reel. Bass pro reels are really high quality in my opinion. Actually, i believe they are made by pflueger. I prefer them over many name brand reels. I have always wanted a viento myself, just for the twitching bar, but i think ill have to side with the reel that i believe is all around better.

Go with the viento, you will be glad you did when you need service.  If you tried a viento that wasn't very smooth, maybe you need to try one from a different box, the ones I have played with felt real nice.

yea also, the bps reel, if you need it serviced, the ONLY  place you can get it serviced is bps, and im not sure, but i think they arent the best reel mechanics.... :-/

if the viento wasnt smooth then like flech said, it might just have been a bad one, or since it was your friends reel or whoever it was, then they might not have kept it in the best shape or well lubricated.

Have the Viento, never really use the twiching bar but it is a quality reel. What is drawing you towards the Viento? If it is mostly the bar make sure it is something you think you will use.  Just wondering because the bps has no bar and Daiwa makes other reels in the same price range. Daiwa's long lasting quality speaks for it self though. You can get a great price on the JM Signature from time to time also which can help.

i have a viento & like it ,i dont use the twitch bar much either, but its still nice as hell.i personally wouldnt buy a bps brand reel(have owned 2 & both were junk & the service thing sucks too)....just my opinion

I have never owned a BPS reel but I just got the Viento for my birthday.... I love it..... I have been using it instead of my spinning rig for my plastics here lately.....It seems like it is well built and you can't go wrong with a Daiwa....

I would go with the Viento. My reasons are #1-Daiwa has a proven track record, #2-I've heard some nightmareish stories about getting BPS reels serviced.

Thanks everyone for the great advice!  After reading some of the BPS reviews and these, it seems like people don't use the twitchin' bar much.  That said, it would have been the primary reason for me switching to the viento.  I appreciate the feedback about the BPS reel but I have been very happy so far (knock on wood).  I think I'm sticking with the BPS.  Who knows...maybe in a few months I'll have both.  :)  Anyway...thanks again everyone!
