 For the money, Shimano Symetre...

                 As Ever,

                  skillet

Okay, but I still think the Stradic is the "Best Value."

Now, for too much money...Stella 2500FB. Great reel, it's my favorite.

I have the Pflueger Supremes. Won't even consider another reel anymore. I took back a Stradic that had bail issues and decided to wait for the Supreme. I have 3 now.

I can't believe so many people have said the Symetre.

I love my Stradic, by far my favorite.

Do people not have Stradics, or are people seriously picking a Symetre over the Stradic?

I respectfully have to disagree with RW on this one.

The Symetre is clearly the value leader in the spinning reel world.

It will do anything the stradic will, only it' cheaper.

As for the "best"   Well, since I bought my Steez,  there is no contest.

The new stella's are comming, but as of this moment The daiwa steez is the undistupted champion.

Look at the weight, line capacity, bearings, and features.

Put them all together and it's hard to imagine being able to top it without going "digital"

Me happy camper.

....in the over $300 price range.  :)

Years ago Fin-Nor made some Ahab-lite spinning reels and they were the best reels I have ever used.  The ones I have are over 12 years old and they still work great and have the smooooothest drags I have ever used.  But the company got into making some cheap crap shortly there after and has changed hands at least two or three times in the last few years.  I haven't seen any new reels on the market that would make me want to change.

I'm going to scare some people here...

I have 5 Shimano Baitrunners (3500 through 6500). It's the only spinning reel I have multiples of. However, those are catfish specific reels (one of them "can" be used for bass though). All but the 3500 are on rods 9' or longer.  :-[

As far as bass fishing goes, I prefer the shimano reels, but haven't gone into the specific models yet.
