I'd say 7 foot.  From the bank, you need something that will get your bait out there.  I also like a 6'6 rod too.  I think you'd be happy with a 7 footer.

Well, I currently have 3 baitcasting reels, all on rods 6'6". 1 M and 2 M/H.  The M and 1 M/H are Quantums, from WalMart. They are quite nice, I think, although far from being top of the line.  

The other is a MH from Dicks that I purchased for my son to learn bc but he hasn't got the hang of it, so I sort of use it.  I fish mostly from the bank and this length works well for me, overall, for crigs, senkos, spinners, buzzbaits, etc.

The length doesn't really matter, it's just personal preference. Your rod is probably Medium Power/ Fast Action which is fine. Down the road you may want to add another rod with Moderate Action which is a little more forgiving when fishing treble hook lures.
