Super User .RM. Posted August 3, 2007 Super User Posted August 3, 2007 dsaavedra, hey reelmech, is reel magic okay to use on my reels?I don't use it or recommend that anyone use it to service/lubricate their reels with. Now with that being said if you need to do any of the following: Retards line memory Softens and extends line life Reduces icing on rod guides Retards fading and corrosion on Crank baits Keeps spinnerbait skirts supple and tangle free Waterproofing allows flies to float higher and longer Then by all means use it on your line, but again never for lubricating the reel. Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 4, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 4, 2007 jeez man youre tough to crack! ;D so is the only stuff you reccoment the stuff you sell on your site? well i guess if i ever need to lube my new Citica, i'll buy some of your stuff and put that in there. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted August 4, 2007 Super User Posted August 4, 2007 jeez man youre tough to crack! I am a 25 year factory trained technician, what do you expect...If your going to lube and basic service your own reels, then do it with the right lubricants, or send it off to have it done right...so is the only stuff you reccoment the stuff you sell on your site? well i guess if i ever need to lube my new Citica, i'll buy some of your stuff and put that in there. No it isn't. But you keep looking at lubricants that aren't suited for fishing reels. There are plenty of sites that carry, the proper lubrications for fishing reels. Besides that you should get a small bottle of the Shimano® reel oil in the box for your new Citica, use it sparingly then when that is gone try mine if you want, it's basically the same oil... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!! Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 4, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 4, 2007 so my new citica is gonna come w/ a small bottle of oil? thats good. and i figured "REELmagic" would be suitable for REELS. but guess not : Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 4, 2007 Super User Posted August 4, 2007 That's why they changed the name to Real Magic Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 4, 2007 Super User Posted August 4, 2007 I know one guy who uses it on his bearings. He says it is only good for one trip and he has to do it again. I guess they don't call him Crazy Bob for nothing. Quote
Cephkiller Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I think reelmech has shown almost superhuman levels of restraint. Rollyeyes should be used sparingly, if at all, especially when one is asking a long term and well-respected member for help. Good luck with your lubricating adventures. Quote

Not that he needs it, but I will vouch for ReelMech's credibility right now!!! I called him on Friday w/ a reel question. He didnt even blink, just answered the question like the darn reel was sitting in front of him. I was seriously impressed. Dsaavedra, listen to the man.... Wayne Quote

Sorry if I misread your :. I thought they were directed at David, apparently you meant them for the name "ReelMagic." Anyway, I bought 4 Citicas last year and they did not come with oil. I don't know if they come with it now or not. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 5, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 5, 2007 yea i was directing it at the name reelmagic lol ;D that sucks if it doesnt come w/ oil. Quote
Super User Catt Posted August 5, 2007 Super User Posted August 5, 2007 Citica price range and below does not come with reel oil but the can be purchased separate and so can their reel grease. Quote
