Super User Redlinerobert Posted July 27, 2007 Super User Posted July 27, 2007 I have this old Calcutta "Cigar" reel that came in a cigar box. I still have the box and all the accessories. This reel has never been used. Any ideas guys? I've yet to see another like it. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 27, 2007 Super User Posted July 27, 2007 With all the goodies I wouldn't be surprised to see that fetch $300 +. Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 When I saw those about 7 years ago they were around 260-270 If I remember correctly. Very nice reels. Quote
Super User Raul Posted July 27, 2007 Super User Posted July 27, 2007 Oh boy a Stogie, nice piece RR. Quote
JayW Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 A friend of mine used to have one (probably still does) in the box. He also had 16 other Calcuttas! Quote
Super User .RM. Posted July 28, 2007 Super User Posted July 28, 2007 250 Calcutta Stogie Special (Circa 1998) I know the reel well, I had 2 of them, purchased straight from Shimano®....... It's worth about what it was worth in 98 when it was released and only released for that year (only 1500 produced). It is a blue water reel, with upgraded bearings. Housed in a presentation mahogany red oak box, with cigar band. The anodized paint job meant that no 2 reels were alike. $298.00 MSRP... Needs about another 10 years to be considered a collectable... Tight Lines All !!!! Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 28, 2007 Super User Posted July 28, 2007 Sweet reel. It looks like it is destined to be a collectors item. I would love to own one but I don't think I could bring myself to fish it. Quote
Pencil Pusher Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I bought two of these several years ago at my local Academy. They were on close out for $189 ( $10 more than the regular 250). They're still unused and in the case. Quote
