Well after being hung up on wanting to use a spinning rod for swimbaits I'm slowly starting to change my mind and might have to learn how to use casting gear :'(

My previous problem of portability still lives though, and I need this to be a 2-piece stick.  Are there any swimbait specific (or suitable) rods that come in 2 pieces?

I mostly plan on throwing baits on the smaller side like the mattlures baby bass, bluegill, castaic 4~6", and some smaller hardbaits like the kiwami gill, wake jr, shellcracker.  I may eventually want to throw a larger plastic or two like the hudd or the bbz's.

Anyways - anyone know of anything that will fit the bill?  It will be matched to a more budget reel like the Shimano Cardiff or Okuma Indura Idx.

thx!

I use have been using a Cardiff 301 for almost 2 years now and I don't want anything else. I just ordered a 201 for my new set.

The reel cast like a champ out the box, it doesn't have the ideal drag power for big swimbaits but changing the washers I gained 4 lbs. I have done a few other upgrades and I'm super satisfied with it. It is still near 2 oz lighter that its rich cousin the Calcutta TE.

I think you are going to have a hard time finding a 2 pieces SB rod. Check the Musky and Salmon rods

Yea I'm having one hell of a time finding something suitable for my needs.  I'm almost thinking I might get a custom build, but then I'd be spending more money than I would like.. ugh.  Being on foot sucks sometimes.

What washer did u put in the Cardiff?

Depends on how big a swimbait you're looking to use.

Bass Pro makes some 7'MH casting rods rated for 3/8 - 1.5 ozs in 2-piece.  It's a Bionic Blade, I think.
