Im looking into a new baitcaster, Im willing to spend around the $250 mark, but if it's cheaper and works just as good thats great.

I recently bought a teirra spinning reel and love it, so im kind of leaning twords a daiwa caster reel.

Im asking your opinions on the reels i list below and if there are any other quality reels you know of please list them, I would apreciate it.

1. TD Zillion, I am unsure of the diffrence between 7:1:1 gear ratio and the 6:3:1 ?

2. TD Fuego

3. TD Avantage Super Tuned

4. TD Procast ROJO (Cheaper model than all of the above would like some feedback if anyone has used one)

It will be used for an "all around" rod. (Cranks, spinners, swimbaits)

If you could pick one what would you choose and why?, Or list any others please.

Thanks.

I would suggest at least taking a look at the Shimano Curado and Chronarch MG. Both reels have established a very strong following and have a solid history of dependability.

Zillion 6.3:1 = 28 inches per turn, Zillion 7:1 = 30 inches per turn, long 90 mm handle, large line capacity good for the regular 1/4+ oz lure but not for light lures.

Fuego, the poor man 's TDZ, lighter than the others stock 80 mm handle, magnesium frame, large line capacity good for the regular 1/4+ oz lure but not for light lures, dry drag system that can sometimes be touchy if contaminated with lubricant, same 28 inches per turn.

TDA super tuned, very good reel and relatively "affordable", large line capacity good for the regular 1/4+ oz lure but not for light lures, dry drag system that can sometimes be touchy if contaminated with lubricant, same 28 inches per turn.

Rojo, the exact same reel as the Procatster PR100H/HL with a different paint job and a couple more bearings that will make it feel smooth because they are in the knobs, not much of an upgrade from the PR 100.

From the Daiwas I would go for the Fuego just because it weights less than the others.

In that price range in Shimano ...... since you have considered the Rojo well, let 's add the Citica to the list.

Citica, oh boy better than the old Curado SF for 30 dollars less.

Curado, so many sizes to choose from, I would go for the Curado 100

Chronarch Mg, fantastic little beast that will outcast any of the others.

From the three Shimanos I would go for the Chronarch Mg.

Since you already own a Teirra spinner, you might want to consider their new Teirra baitcaster. I played with one at BPS over the weekend and it seemed like a nice reel priced at $120.

If you are really planning to spend up to $250- There is only 1 reel I would even consider... The Chronarch 50/51 MG. I have a handfullof them and have also had Curado D's and some of the TD's on your list... for my money, I'll stick with the 50MG.

I like shimano and Diawa alot,  I really like the two zillions I have,  I had a chronarch and it wasn't the reel for me.  I have a curado and had no problems with it,  a great reel.   If I had to pick one I guess the zillion would be it.

Thanks for input,

Im willing to spend 250 but it's not like i HAVE / WANT to spend that much lol, Im trying to find out if there are any cheaper that can preform close to or as good as the more expensive models.

Right now im leaning twords the TD Advantage super tuned on sale at Cabelas $99

Im also going to look into the teirra baitcaster, but its not yet listed on bps or cabelas web sites.

The cheaper the reel i can get the more i can invest into a quality rod ;)

I'd go with the Abu Garcia Revo SX ($149) or STX ($199).  I have 2 SXs and they are, by far, the best baitcaster's I've ever had.  I like them far better than my older Curados SFs - which I ended up selling.  My opinion is the Revo is as good or better than a Shimano at twice the price.

Since when is a $229 fishing reel a poor mans reel?

Raul thanks for reminding me just how far I live on the wrong side of the tracks!  LOL

There 's always a first time for anything my friend.  ;)

The TDX SuperTuned is a great reel and it 's not for me, there 's soemthing about the profile that just doesn 't feel right, go figure.

Don't get me wrong I like shimano but the chronarch B  I had just seemed really noisy for whatever reason. As stated I have a curado 200dhsv and it isn't noisy like the chronarch was. I'm proficiant with a baitcaster and rarley have a backlash but I couldn't tame that reel for some reason.  I also had a probem getting my finger to the brakes not much room if I remember correctly.   I  had the chance at a tackle show to play with a zillion and returned the chronarch for a zillion.   It just seemed to be better for me.
