bugman Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I have a 7'3" M/H Avid that I use for Jigs & Swim Frogs. I like braids for Frogs and 15# copoly for jigs. What line would you suggest I should spool that I can use for both? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted July 6, 2007 Super User Posted July 6, 2007 Are you fishing the frogs in really heavy slop? Your normal frog braid with a copoly leader should do the trick. EDIT: Let me clarify Braid by itself for the frogs. Then, just add a leader for jig fishing if the water is clear. Quote
Guest avid Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 for the jig. Straight braid should not be a problem unless your in ultra clear water. For hollow body frogs, I also often use straight braid. The braid cuts through the weeds really well and I fish my frogs in very thick cover or slop so line visibility is not an issue. Quote

=Matt 5.0= Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Here's my setup that has proved to be very succesful this year. I started out this spring having never caught on a jig. Did some research, spent a day on the water with LBH getting schooled, and have had one tied on since. I use a 7' BPS extreme MH with 20lb Power Pro. Gives nice distance for casting, which we need in alot of the lakes here, because of clarity. So far, I haven't noticed a downside of the "visibility" of the braid. The fish have been smacking the jig like a truck. Just me Quote
Super User David P Posted July 10, 2007 Super User Posted July 10, 2007 When using braid on a BC do you need to put a backing of mono or any line? Or can you spool the braid straight on there? Quote
Infidel. Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 If you you have a whiffle spool you can thread it through the holes and tie it to that, if not than I leave about two layers of mono and tie the braid to that. Oh and I use two different sticks for Jigging and froging. Jig stick has 15lb Cuda and the frog stick has 50lb Power Pro. If I had to use one it would be the braid because the braid will work fine with the jig but the mono and the frog aren't the best of combinations. Quote

What he said... I personally use 30lb PowerPro Braid for my Frog Fishing on a Heavy 7'6" Flipping Stick. Quote
