BucketmouthAngler13 Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I saw the Powell Max Casting rod on TW and fell in love with it. I decided instead of getting two cheap rods I would get one nice one. And if I'm going to get such a nice rod, I got to get a good reel for it, right? (one of the baitmonky's oldest tricks) So I'm looking at a Pflueger Summit to put on it. Anyone used the Powell rods? The whole grip thing looks soooo sweet, and I want a reel without a forgrip. I'm looking at a 6'8" Med-Hvy. I know there are plenty of Summit fans out there, so whats y'alls opinoin? Thanks in advance Matt Quote
RiskKid. Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 You won't be disappointed with the Powell Rod. I have a 7' MH and it is a great rod. Quote
lubina Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I have been fishing with the swimbait 7.11 H, I like it better than any other swimbait rod I ever had or fish with, extremely well made. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted July 11, 2007 Super User Posted July 11, 2007 Take a look at the Dobyns rods too. I just got one and it's unbelievably sweet. Same specs and price as the Powells Quote
Super User senile1 Posted July 11, 2007 Super User Posted July 11, 2007 You're going to like the Powell rod. It's a very good rod at a great price. I've heard good things about the Summit as well. It is quite a bit lighter than the Shimano Citica though I really like the Citica. I think you'll have yourself a very nice combo with those choices. Quote
