Super User burleytog Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 Ordered a Fritts crankin reel and AR crankin rod from BPS 3 weeks ago. They were out of stock and they told me they should have them in stock again by the end of the month. Just got a letter in the mail from BPS. Out of stock and NOT backordered. :'( Fanfreakintastic! Any recommendations now? Quote
wickyman Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I have been noticing a lot of complaints from them lately. It seems as though they don't know how to update their information, pertaining to specific items. If it doesn't change, I am going elsewhere for my higher end gear! I think it is a joke when you can't even get what you want, when it is, "supposedly" on back order... GL getting your gear from them, if this is the case! I would go to a local pro shop, even if it costs you 10 bucks more... At least that way you don't have to wait to take it back if something is wrong with the set. I plan on buying another baitcasting here in a week or so. I also plan on doing that locally, so that if I have any problems, I can have it replaced that day, not several weeks later, and the money I spend there, will actually save me for shipping! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Hey Burley those are really good crankin reels. My friend Danny has a couple of them and swears by them I would wait . BPS has been updating a lot of their line, and the older models are great just as they are. Maybe they will ship you the newer version if it comes out Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 25, 2007 Author Super User Posted June 25, 2007 They're not shipping anything. OOS and not backordered. May be the last straw with BPS for me... Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 And those bastages don't make that reel in LH > Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 25, 2007 Author Super User Posted June 25, 2007 Your from VA, check Greentop. Drive 5 hours just for a reel? : Quote
Super User 5bass Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 Burley, the same thing happened to me on the 2 Fritts 4.7's I ordered while they were on sale. I called them today after receiving my letter and asked them what was up and let them know that I was a little mad because they arent on sale anymore and if I wanted them now, I'd have to pay full price (whenever they get them in) well, the lady I spoke with contacted customer service and I got those 2 ordered again for the Father's Day sale price. May be worth a try. Just tell them that you only ordered them because they were on sale and see if they will do it for you. It worked for me. Quote
ILfisherman Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Fanfreakintastic! Any recommendations now? Time to discover the awesome value that Ebay can provide Quote

Why are they taking orders for something that is OOS and not BO'ed? I checked their site this afternoon, the rods are in stock, but all the reels are marked as being possibly OOS. I was going to call tonight but left the paper at home. If nothing else I'll order just the rod and see if they'll add it to my 6-pay plan. Speaking of which, that is another matter. I've already made a payment, part of which included the cost of the rod & reel. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 26, 2007 Author Super User Posted June 26, 2007 Found my order info online, just got off the phone with a CSR. The items aren't on backorder but re-order. According to him, as soon as they get them in mine will be on my way. The guy was more than a bit loopy, how much you want to bet I'll end up getting either a rod or a reel, not both? Quote
wickyman Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 That happens a lot with them. I personally am not dealing with them anymore. Unless I absolutely, need to. I never need to do anything when it comes to fishing, but the bait monkey usually tells me to do it because it is, "ON SALE MAN". lol I flick the monkey off my shoulder every time I hit the pro shop here... lol Yesterday I was itching to get a couple pepper jigs and some trixie 4:20 in spring break for trailers... I flicked that evil monkey off my shoulder, and the guy at the shop ended up just giving me a pro football pepper jig. It pays off. But yes, BPS is becoming a horrible retailer lately. It almost makes a 5 hour drive worth it! At least then you will have what you want, when you want, and F shipping! lol Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 9, 2007 Author Super User Posted July 9, 2007 Well, I got tired of waiting again, so I called again this morning. Local tackle shop having an anniversary sale, 10% off all rods and reels. In other words, I need to buy something. To make a long story short, it seems the guy I talked to two weeks ago was full of it. The letter I got actually was true. My order was cancelled. The guy did apologize and offer to re-place the order. I was so fed up I just told him I'd fill my needs elsewhere. What I don't understand is that when I placed the order, they told me that it was on backorder and they would be shipping in late June. So when that time came, they just cancelled my order. Not very good business practice... Quote
