Tierra or New Stradic?

I just broke my spinning reel and was looking at these two reels.  I called *** and asked when the new Stradic H would be in and he said hopefully sometime this week.  I leaning towards the new Stradic but I need opinions. Any help?

There can 't be many opinions on the subject of a reel that 's not even seen the shelves, the new Stradic Mg ( launched a couple of years ago ) is a lot better than the old Stradic Mg ( discontinued a couple of years ago ), Shimano got it right.

The Tierra looks good, it took the place of the old Capricorn which was a very good reel, so far the experience of those who have purchased a Tierra is very limited, it 's so limited that at least two members have purchased the Tierra and they haven 't owned the reel for more than a couple of months ( perhaps less ) so to a certain point their opinion is valid but on the other part lacks of validity because it lacks the most important test of all to tell if the reel is what you are expecting from it: the test of time.

What I liked about Daiwas:

Nice shape

Very smooth

Air bail

Machine cut handle

Very smooth drag that can sometimes be touchy

What I liked about Shimanos:

Bullet proof

Good drag

Raul brings a good point to the table.  I bought a Tierra in March and so far it has performed far past my expectations for the price point.  I have had it in freshwater with a best so far of 5.4 and in saltwater with a best of 13-14 lbs (striper)

As Raul pointed out however, I have only owned it a few months.  As for durability, I CAN say this.  It looks brand new and I've NEVER owned a reel for 2-3 months that still looked new.  I thought the finish would be a quick one to show the wear but it has proven quite the opposite, bulletproof.  It's not like it doesn't get used either, it is on my #1 set-up.

Attention to detail is very nice with this reel too.

So far it's a 10 in my book.

I have had my Tierra since april 13, which is weird cause i thought i bought mine before lbh. But I would choose it over a stradic (non mg) anyday.

I have both a Stradic and a Tierra.  Truth be told, I have no idea which one I prefer.  I find them both to be great reels.

And does the 'test of time' thing really weigh that heavily for companies that have been in the spinning reel game for such a long time?  People hesitated to recommend the Tierra when it had just come out, but over the years Daiwa has shown they know what they're doing.  The Tierra was nothing revolutionary, so I took the leap and got one.

I suspect the same can be said about the yet to be released Stradic.  Is it brand new?  Sure.  Is it safe to say Shimano knows what they're doing?  Yes again.

I'm with LBH on this one.  I owned Stradics for years, and they never failed me.  I picked up my Tierra about 2 months ago, and the few times I've used it, I find my myself saying 'wow' every so often.  The reel is waaay smooth, and I love the air bail.  I don't know what the new stradic will bring, but I did know shimano couldn't compete with the new line of daiwas out...something had to change!
