hollandbass Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 For those who have used both, whats a better heavy bass/light pike reel the cardiff 100 or 200? This is going to see heavy topwaters for big bass and once in a while pike/musky on a med-heavy 7" rod. I picked up the 100 because its lighter/smaller but wondering is its too undersized for the big boys. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 1, 2007 Super User Posted July 1, 2007 I have a Cardiff CDF100A on Daiwa TD-V701MHRB rod 7' 0; caught 2 bass over 10 pounds & I've also caught several bull reds in the 20 pound range with it with absolutely no problems. Quote
kms399 Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 I am a fan of the cardiff it is a great reel. it's not the size of the fish it will catch it is the line size you plan to use. the 200 will give you more line capacity so you can use larger diameter line and still get a good amount on. if you are only planning to use 10 or 12 pound test or micro braids (power pro, stren super braid, suffix braid, etc) it will be fine but if you want to use say 20# big game or another larger size mono you will appreciate the larger line capacity.
