Bauerus Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Hi guys, Anyone out there tried the Berkley FireLine Crystal yet? I like the regular Fireline but wanted to get an idea if anyone has tried this new one. Getting ready to get my budget set for new line and all when we hit Michigan in a few weeks. Tnx Quote
phase5supply Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I have 2 rods setup with it the 8lb & 14lb, I like this line alot. I have heard some bad reports on it, but I have had great luck with it. Give it a try, I think you will like it too. Good Luck, Daniel Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I tried fireline once. Last time too... Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 I hate the stuff just like any other fireline! Others love it, don't ask me why? They probably never tried power pro! Quote
Bauerus Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Tnx all. I have used the Fireline for a few years but not sure abot the new Crystal... What is Power Pro? Quote
armesjr Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 I have fireline on my spinning reel and really like it. From reading posts on the forum, it sounds like they have problems with consistently producing a quality product. A lot of people hate it, while a lot of people love it. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 Tnx all. I have used the Fireline for a few years but not sure abot the new Crystal... What is Power Pro? Power Pro is one of the best braided lines you can get. Quote
Bizzo Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Can I ask what makes it (powerpro) so good? Is it low vis? Thats what I like about Fireline Crystal. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted June 25, 2007 Super User Posted June 25, 2007 Power Pro is durable and has a very thin diameter for its tested strength. It casts with ease. With use, I get some fraying with Power Pro. Sufix Performance Braid has all of the qualities of Power Pro but I have never had any fraying with it, so it is my favorite braid at this time. I'm not aware of any low vis braids, except for the new Fireline Crystal that you asked about. I use braid in heavy cover so low visibility isn't an issue. When I am fishing light cover or clear water and need low visibility I use fluorocarbon or a copolymer line such as Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. Quote
