i am going to buy a new rod in the next week or two and want either a 150$ avid or a 90$ premier..the two are basically the same and i was wondering if the avid is really worth 60$ more

I know that the avids seem a little lighter and you get fugi guides and i believeit is a better graphite but I am not sure if it is worth the extra 60 bucks.

If your budget will allow you to send $150.00 I would buy the avid, I have a few of both, the avid is lighter and more sensitive. The premier is a best rod under a $100.00 and the avid the best value in any price range IMO. ;)

the main difference is the warrenty .... avid has a life time warrenty .... the premiere has a 5 year .... the avid does have a better graphite and is liter ,,, to me the avid is a better stick .... now that being said the premiere isnt a bad stick for the price ,,, i just baught a couple last year ....

If you're going to spend the money for an Avid, look at Powell rods for the same price.  (http://powellco.com/)  For the same money as an Avid, you get a rod that can compete in quality with rods over $200, IMO.  I own both Avids and Powells and the Powell is the lighter, more sensitive rod, by far.

BTW, I'm just an average recreational angler and I'm not sponsored by Powell, or anyone for that matter.  I rave about these rods because their quality is exceptional but their price is mid-range.

The are not "basically the same." The Avid is a better rod than the Premier. Here's the link for Reed's Family Outdoors. Free shipping, no sales tax and a 10% savings (you have to punch up "add to cart" to see the discount):

I agree with Senile1 100% I am a big fan of the Avid but have recently purchased a Powell. It has become my favorite rod!

Get the avid. The premier is nice, but the avid is in my mind the best rod one could buy.  Very light and sensative.  I've replace nearly every Premier I have with a Avid.

Premiers Sport SCII graphite and Batson forecast aluminum oxide guides

Avids Sport Alconite guides and SCIII graphite.

So road warrior is right. They are not basically the same. On components alone, and though I don't have either, my money would be one the Avid. No doubt!

Avid without a doubt.  It's a rod you'll only buy once.   Lifetime warranty and pretty much available for sale everywhere.  I've heard nothing but good about Powell..but have not tried one.  Factor in shipping, vs. tax vs. return policy and make your choice.

Cheers
