Hey everyone.  ;)

I just bought a Shimano callisto baitcasting combo (my first baitcaster) and love it. I have it rigged with 12lb Trilene XT and use it for spinners, buzzbaits and crankbaits.

The problem is, I can only use heavy lures with it...anything else and i get backlash/over runs (maybe this is normal but i don't know...this IS my first baitcaster). Maybe lighter line would help?  :-?

I have a Quantum Ignition combo rigged with 6lb Trilene XL that i use for small spinners, buzzbaits, crankbaits (1/8oz mostly) and weightless plastics.

What would be a decent setup to look into next? I'd like something a little lighter than the Shimano but a little heavier than the Quantum.  ;D

Also, feel free to comment on my current setup and maybe give some pointers on which lines to use.

i had problems with baklash recently too...it was from an over filled spool...i leave about a 1/4 in from the top of the spool and no more backlash(much)  ;D

I'm really not having much backlash problems with 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 lures....just anything lighter than that seems to backlash on me  :-/

Welcome aboard!

I prefer spinning tackle when fishing light lures (finesse).

For heavier lures and thicker line, baitcasting equipment (power fishing).

Those suggestions are the simple solution.
