SimonSays Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Heya guys, i'm in the market for a travel rod, I've looked through the BPS mag/site and I saw the BPS extreme rod and the Browning travel rods. Which one would you recommend? or is there something better at around this price? Thanks guys Quote
DRat Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I dont know you price range but Gloomis escape travel rods are great. You cant tell they are not a one piece rod when using them. Quote
Guest Bountiful_Waters Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 There is a huge difference in price between G-Loomis and the two rods you mentioned. I have never fished any of the three, but have done quite a bit of research on each over the last year. There have been some pretty good reports on the Extreme travel rod. Many people also like the tube that comes with it. Those that travel to South Amercia like the G-Loomis travel rod quite a bit for Peacock. Quote
Lard_Bass Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I almost bought the Extreme a month ago when I lost a tip of an old travel rod. I walked into a Bass Pro and the salesman told me to go with the cheaper BPS 6'6" Medium travel rod (no longer on the website but probably in the stores still). It was on sale for $40 and the salesman said that he has a couple of those rods for trips and recommended it strongly to customers. I have been using it for a month. It's definitely better than my old travel rod. It's a generic Medium Power & Action rod. It's great for power fishing and okay for finesse. For the value, I would strongly recommend it. It fits easily into my rollerboard for air travel. BTW, the salesman also agreed that spending the money on an expensive travel rod would be better spent on a nicer one-piece rod. He didn't even push the Browning on me. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I have three of the BPS Extreme travel Rods (Two Baitcasting and One Spinning). They are very good rods for travel. The rod tube is durabile and since they aren't that expensive (They are on sale for $64.99 right now), you won't have heartburn if one happens to break. I travel a lot for work, so they are great to throw into the car or to carry on a plane and they have a certain level of sensitivity. I think you will be very pleased with one. Quote
