jdw174 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I've got an AbuGarcia 1044 reel that I use for worm fishing/silver buddies/finesse jigs. It's a closed face that releases the line when you touch the top of the spool with your finger. IMO one of the best wormin' spinning reels ever made (Last one I saw on Ebay was going at $75 only halfway thru the auction ) The time has come for a cleaning/general tuneup with perhaps some work on the drag. Does anyone know of a shop that might do this? I tried ReelMech, but it was a no go. I'd hate to have to dump it Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 The Abu-Garcia Abumatic 1044 underspin spincast reel was produced in 1989-90. The one on e-bay you mention would almost be a collectible, if it is in perfect condition and in the box with all papers. But it was not a $75.00 reel in it's day. There are no parts availible for that reel any longer. Good Luck & Tight Lines!!! Quote
jdw174 Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 And that's a shame. If I could come up with a case or two of those reels I could make a killing up around Ohio with the tx fishermen. If I could come up with a case or two of the older 507 or 507 MK II underspins I could almost name my price. You could load up to 20lb line in those. Quote
