rvrnr64 Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 I went to Dicks today with the intention of getting a Shimano Sahara but then saw the Quantum Inferno is on sale for $50 down from $100. Wat to do What to do. Any suggestions guys? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted May 16, 2007 Super User Posted May 16, 2007 I believe the Inferno is a branded reel made exclusively for Dick's. Bottom line, I would buy the Sahara. The idea that it is a $100 reel that you are getting for $50 is a spoof. I think that reel goes for that price all the time. This is not to say that it may not be a good reel. The Sahara is a proven winner and if for some reason you would need it serviced, you should not have any problems finding parts. Quote
rvrnr64 Posted May 16, 2007 Author Posted May 16, 2007 Thanks. I now have a Sahara on my Ugly Stick. Not wild about the gold trim though. Quote
BassPonder72 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 The Inferno was never priced at $100. It just showed up at Dick's one day priced at $50 with a BS markdown. I looked at it and it is a Dick's exclusive. When I asked the the fishing "specialist" what the gear ratio was (not on the box) he told me that it must be 6.3:1 because it has 10 bearings. I almost told him right there he needed to start looking for a new job. Also, when I asked him if he had ever used it he said no with this tone in his voice like "are you kidding me, that thing is a piece." Needless to say, I didn't buy anything after talking to that fool. I went home and clicked on the Cabela's ad on BassResource.com and placed my order. Quote
rvrnr64 Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 I bought the 2500 from Dicks and also have a 750 Sahara on the way from Cabelas. I don't know why 'cause I like my Mitchells just fine. Quote
jacksize Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 i have no idea who dick is, but i do own 2 saharas and that i use almost everyday with no complaints. of course you do get what you pay for. the reel that i use everyday is the symetry 2500 and for an extra $20.-25. the symetry is something you should take a look at. i also have the 4000 which both are great for inshore. for the money the symetry is definitely a better choice.
