New Bass Man Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Those reels are fetching over $100. What do you think? Worth it or not? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 17, 2007 Super User Posted May 17, 2007 Well, those reels were rated a dead solid 10. Check the "Flea Market" from time to time and you might find one for sale at a better price. If you want one NOW, I think that's a GREAT deal. Quote
New Bass Man Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007 I have three of them I bought during the old days. I just love em. I just bought another Curado 200BSF for a little over a hundred dollars. I already have one but I wanted another one. I have two Chronarch 50mg and I tell you the truth....I much prefer the 200BSF over the 50mgs. Quote

Super User FishTank Posted May 17, 2007 Super User Posted May 17, 2007 If you are looking at the 200 size reel, I would say it is well worth it. I have an older 201 BSF and for several reasons, I like it better than the new 201 Curados. I have had a chance to fish a new 100 Curado and I liked it a lot. With the new Curado 201 it seems larger and harder to palm comfortably. I can also cast the older Curado better. The only thing I did like about it was the drag. It seems smoother and stronger. I would gladly spend $100-$125 for a new old style BSF Curado but that is just my personal opinion. If you think about it, instead of paying around $200 for the new Curado, one could buy an old one and add the best bearing and drag washers available and still be under $200. Quote
CATCHnRELEASE Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Honestly, I think they were the best reels ever made for the money. I have two 200B's and two 200BSF's and they are still my favorite reels. I really prefer the 200BSF over the 200B though. All in all though they are both very nice reels in my opinion. Quote
justfishin Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Typically for a used reel or older reel that was only about 129.00 new in its day, I would say a 100 bucks was a little high but, for a older Curado, I would pay it. I have more than enough myself and I am a Abu Garcia guy but, I think the older Curado's were one of the sweetest reels ever made. Most of mine have 12# test on them and they are perfect. I just love them. I think they are one of the best reels ever made and a 100 bucks is well worth it for one in good shape. Quote
LAO162 Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I didn't have any experience with baitcasting reels, but I found a 200B on clearance for $50 (then got $10 more off). Within minutes I was comfortable casting with it. I've never had a serious backlash (knock on wood), and have been able to clear the ones I've had by just taking a few steps back. I figure it's got to be a pretty good reel if a newbie like me can use it successfully. Cheers! Quote
Super User Raul Posted May 17, 2007 Super User Posted May 17, 2007 You may find them in a store on clearance for less than 70 bones, but that 's in a store, stores want to get back the money they invested and now being discontinued more reason to get their money back ..... The Mean Green Feechin Machine is proven to be bullet proof and you can almost get back what you initially paid for, I wouldn 't sell any of mine for less than 90 bones even if they are used but in mint condition.
