Black Bass Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Would you pay $50. more for the Pflueger Supreme than the Pflueger President? Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 14, 2007 Super User Posted May 14, 2007 I have 3 of the President spinning reels and I love them. My bud just bought the Supreme and I did have a chance to play with it. It just looks like it is built better and is a very smooth reel. The President is also very smooth, I think it just comes down to how much you want to spend, but no matter what one you pick you can't go wrong! 8-) Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted May 14, 2007 Super User Posted May 14, 2007 that's a no brainer.the president has a graphite frame.the supreme has a magnesium frame.graphite flexs and causes gear alignment issues.i would never buy any graphite framed reel no matter who made it.they do make the medalist with an aluminum frame which is in between the president and supreme. Guest the_muddy_man Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 I never have disagreed with Dodgeguy before but i have to say the gear alignment thing is a bit overblown when iot comes to spinning reels. I can see how in a baitcaster this can be an issue I have had several Pflueger Presidents( I went to baitcasting now and gave them away) they are my single favorite. I cagut Bass,Northern Pike and when visiting home small cocktail bluefish ( off the rocks in Verrazano Straits between Brooklyn and Staten island) which were around 4 to 5 lbs each NOT ONE ALIGNMENT ISSUe I ysed Spinning gear for many years, most of my reels were graphite bodied reeels and I NEVER<NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE I think this is like one of those Urban Legend things that gets repeated over and over. I never had a Supreme but any reel I ever bought with the Pflueger name on ROCKED!!!!!!! Quote
Cephkiller Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Dodgeguy's post really had me going there for a minute. I'm glad Muddy came along to restore my faith in the Pflueger posse ;D For the record, I agree with Dodgeguy, but most people probably won't notice so Muddy isn't really wrong either. Quote
