Revo S, DId I do good?

I took an old Bantam Curado into Southwestern in Dallas for a cleaning Today and found out it wasnt dirt that was the problem, He said a bearing was out and the total would be around $ 40+ for repair and cleaning. I was kinda tired of looking at that green reel anyway so he said he would give $50 credit for it and before I could flinch I'm buying a new reel. I was looking at another Citica figuring I could hide a $70 purchase easily from the wife when the guy behind the counter showed me the Revo S and sang all of it's praises.  It was $53.03 out the door, I like the very small body on it and it seemed a great price for a 9 bearing reel, I also know of Abu's Rep with alot of fishermen although I fish shimano. I can't really find anything on the "S" model as far as a review so I dont know how I faired on this impulse buy! If it is "all that" I might check out SX or STX, either way I spent $10 to $15 more and ended up witha new reel.

Man you bought the best reel for the money but u gotta have one for each day then one for each time of day one for holidyas one for vactions it wont end with one i assure ya.....

Congrats! I just bought my first baitcaster and it was a Revo S. I love it. I've used a few Shimano's of a friends before and I'd be willing to trade all of those for one Revo. It's just the smoothest, easiest to control reel I've ever used. Let us know how you like it!

Traded in a busted up Shimano for a Revo huh? Good for you.....you'll like the Revo no matter what model you bought. I switched to all Revo's this winter and they have been great reels for me so far.

I have a Revo SX and have been very pleased with it so far.

My fleet is composed of Revos( a S and a SX) and BPS Pro Qualifiers.  If I had alot of money I would have alot of Revos.

I revived this post for the update.

The reel performed real good and felt as good as any reel I've owned. it casts nice  but I think I can hear the break working more that on my Shimano's. It may have been that I was paying too close attention, plus I was throwing a weightless plastics and had to muscle the cast to get it out there with a small wind. I think it'll be a great reel either way and I keep second guessing myself if I really heard it so it's not real bad.

While we are talking about the revo s (I didnt want to start another topic)  What is the recomeded line size?  I looked all over the box at the store and found nothing.   I am using a 6'6" med-hvy Im7 lighting rod.  Which recomends 10-25lb line. I was thinking of using 12lb. trilene xl for crankbaits.

the reccomended line is 12 pound.....but i use 10 pound yozuri hybrid baby!
