Super User Catt Posted April 20, 2007 Super User Posted April 20, 2007 Berkley Big Game 15# Mean Green Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 20, 2007 Super User Posted April 20, 2007 I believe I get more and better bites fishing thinner diameter line. I fish all soft plastics on spinning tackle and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. I am experimenting with #4 (.009 diameter) and may switch completely to this line thickness depending on results. I have been fishing #4 for smallmouth on the Tennessee River since last fall without a break-off. This is very strong line, highly abrasive resistant and has virtually no memory in use. Quote
ThaKing Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 6# sufix siege, very very strong, very low memory, very smooth. youll love it Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 RoadWarrior says it all. Yo-Zuri Hybeid is where its at. -wm Quote
sal669 Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 For open water I would stay under 10lb, watever brand you choose. I fish 8lb P-Line CX or 13.9lb Tectan Premium Plus. They have about the same diameter (aprox 0.010), and they test about the same for breaking, even if P-line is rated for only 8lb. The P-Line is softer, the Tectan is slightly stiffer, but fishes well even on spinning reels. I think line diameter is more important than lb rating (wich is not accurate anyway !!!, is just a sales gimmick). The line dia. has more influence on managebility, flow of the reel and through guides, casting distance, etc. than lb rating. My $0.02 Quote
WBFishing Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I have my spinning reel for shakey head on trilene max 8#, 1 baitcaster with 12# vanish flouro for weighted worms, and 10# flouro for weightless worms. Quote
