I just went to the Shakespeare sale here in Columbia, sc and picked up a brand-new in box Pflueger President for 100 bucks. Great deal but I got their to late to pick up a rod. I currently have a XPS bps on my Pflueger Element and i love the rod. Its a 6'6" MH. I was thinking about this one http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58974_100002006_100000000_100002000_100-2-6. I really like the feel of the pistol grip. What would yall recommend. I fish from shore and from my tri-hull john boat. Mostly in ponds and sometimes on the lake so a super long rod isnt needed. What about line choice? I have spider-wire 20 lb braided on my Element and not sure if i wanna put mono on my President.

I would check out a 6'6" MH Pflueger Trion rod (somewhere around $60) or the same size Team All Star rod (around $100). Both rods are very good for the money.

As far as line goes, you can't go wrong with PowerPro. I use 50 lb test for most applications. Yes that sounds like overkill, but it is the same diameter as 12 lb test monofilament. It casts extremely well and gives you a lot more strength.

if you want a good solid rod, I would definatly look into the Falcon Cara. Altho its 130$, it is an amazing rod

enjoy your president! I have mine on a BPS extreme but just 2 days ago I got my pflueger supreme baitcaster on a kistler graphite plus and I love the kistler, its really light but has good backbone too!

What do you have already? and what are you gonna use the rod for?

I would go with a 7ft MH or H if you dont already have one.

Pflueger trionx2

Team allstarx2

BPS extremex2

Great spinnerbait/buzzbait/DEEP crankbait rod is the 7' MH bps tourney special, I have fished alot of rods and that rod has been the best for those baits.

I love my Pflueger Products but both BPS and Fenwick give you a lot better rod than you will ever get from Pflueger The Fenwick Eagle GT is 20 bucks more but it is a whole other world away in quality of rod I have used them both so this is from my experience and not from an opinon

I was going to use it for spinner, topwater, and cranks.  I was looking at the bionic blade in M or MH or tourney special.  Used one this weekend for Catfishing and it was great.  Ive got a XPS bps 6.6 mh with the pflueger element.  I wanna throw mono prob but dont know what pound test.  When would a pistol grip rod be better than the longer corked ones?  Others reels are pflueger spinner with 6' shimano coverge M and pflueger medalist on cherrywood M action. Thanls for the advice.  Cant wait to try the reel out
