I have had a great experience with my Revo STX from abu. I got it at bass pro almost 3 months ago and so far no problems. It casts so smooth. Good to see someone else using abu.

Good Luck

I can't comment on their higher end stuff but I bought some of their lower end Abu and Cardinal stuff ( fairly long time ago) and they were junk. They were really low end but it kind of made me nervous to "invest" in ABU for the higher end stuff.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about some of the older (C3's?) and the newer Revo's come with praise.

I believe (not positive) that Reel Mechanic based on his repair experiences posted once that Abu's, Quantums and some others (?) quality had faded some in recent years .

I have four Abu's and am about to buy my fifth.  I have one 5600 that was my fathers and I have no clue how old that thing is, but still fishes great!  I also have a couple of newer 5600's and a Revo SX and am about to get another Revo SX.   I love Abu's they last forever.  The only other line of reel that I can speak this highly of (due to exposure to it, not playing favorites) is Shimano  they also make great reels.  I Have not had any experience with Daiwa but have heard good things.  But I can't lie I am an Abu man and they have not let me down yet .  Feel good that you bought an Abu and you can fish it a long time!   :exclamation

I have a couple of the revo's and love them to death.  I really havent fished with a reel that smooth and compact in the under $200 price range in my life,(sorry shimano, I still love you too).  As for their rods, I wouldnt buy anything now, but I do have this Larry Nixon Special jig/worm rod that I have had for years and absolutely love it.  I have mainly Kistler, Loomis, and BPS rods, but that Abu Garcia rod still goes with me every trip, just cant seem to leave it behind, and I seem to just always catch a lot of fish with it.

i have an ambassador(round body) and two cardinal spinning reels...have had all three for a few years and i love them, no problems at all....i would like to have bought a low profile abu reel, but i cant find any that have left hand crank that dont cost 200 bucks!  so i bought a pinnacle solene(about 50 bucks), and so far i llike it...but who knows if it will last as long as my abu's have

I got the Revo S last week and I think I'm gonna love it. I like that it has 9 bearings and Centrifugal braking which I prefer to the magnetic dial on the SX and STX. I just wish they would put it on a 11 bearing system, I think they could convince a few of the shimano guys to switch over..Thats all I fished untill this purchase and I think it may be comparable at a little smaller price. It's a newer model so I don't know how it  will fair in the long run.

Abu Garcia is all I use. I have a 24 yr. old 5600 that works great, 2 C4's, C5 Mag-X, D5, and a Record. They all work flawlessly. I'm getting ready to pick up a Revo to try a low profile reel. I would never hesitate to buy an Abu Garcia reel.

In my opinion, the 5000s aren't as smooth, light or "sexy" as most of the new low profiles, but they are built like a tank and will last you forever.

Aint that the truth,,,, have used my 5000 series to haul in some big fish over the years, including 50 lb. salmon and even a 75 lb. sturgeon that liked my cut plug herring in the Columbia river.   The reels will last forever, all you have to do is a little maintenance once in a while.   They just never give up.

I bought my wife two Revo SX's and they are pretty sweet. I actually fished with one in a private lake (didn't want anyone to see me fish something other than Shimano) and thought it performed pretty well. I  had some of the older model Abu's and didn't care for them as much as the low profile reels, but still very dependable.
