Trying to decide which flippin stick to get. I really like the crucials and I a dealer near by has a few kistler magnesiums in my price range of under $200 (dont tell my wife) :o. What do you guys think.

Thanks,

deadeye32

p.s. I dont want a telescopic rod either.

I would go with the Kistler every time. The Crucial is a very nice rod but just doesn't have the sensitivity like the Kistlers. I don't think you'll be dissapointed in them.

Kistler......but if you're spending that much, you might as well save up just a little more and get a Helium. I like the Heliums alot better than the Mags.

this really depeneds on what you want and need ... i know alotta tourney guys swear by kistlers and all .... but i hear the mags arent that great ,,, the reel seats are different than fugi ..... this may not seem like a big deal,,,, but i hear people are having to duck tape there blanks to get the reels on the rod tight ..... not bashing kistlers rods im sure they make a good product ,,, just wouldent be happy payin the cash for a rod then having to buy duck tape .... now the shimano rod does offer a over the counter exchange for a broken stick ,,,, and now that shimano baught loomis this makes me wonder who is making the shimano crucial rods ( i heard loomis ) ......

but the best advice i could give you would be to look at a arrius rod .... this guy has best rod in show at the i-cast more than a few times .... his rods dont cost that much eighter ,,,, id look at the ultra xl or the new pulsar rods just a few i deals ......  ;D

i also just baught a stick from our very own reel mech ,,,, its outstanding ..... he makes the split grips and builds on croix blanks ....  i have to tell ya to look at his work it is outstanding  ;D

I will have to check out that real seat problem, cause I have an old BPS bionic blade that is about 10-12 years old and it doesnt allow most reels to sit tight on the rod and it drives me crazy, the reel actually wobbles a bit when you reel of move the rod.  I will def. check that out.

Thanks

not sure what reels have troube ..... but i have heard this about the kistler mag rods ... ive read more than a few posts ( and a few people that posted are taclke junkies ) ..... i know one guy had the problem ,, he e-mailed kistlers and Treys guys e-mailed him back advising him to try the duck tape ..... Not somthing you wanna hear when you just baught a new rod ....  i have not heard this about the helium just the mag ts ..... again im not bashing just passing on what i hear ...

I want to know what kind of reels are being used that duct tape is required.  I don't know anyone that's ever had a problem with a Kistler reel seat.

I had a problem with my Pflueger reel not sitting correctly in my Kistler Mg.  Haven't seen a problem with the Shimano or Abu I use, though

Want a list or reels that don 't fit in that non Fuji reel seat ?

Scorpion 1000, Scorpion 1000 Mg and therefore Chronarch Mg ( identical )

Alphas, Alphas Itö and therefore Sol ( identical )

Curado 200

Metanium XT so Chronarch B ain 't gonna fit also.

TDZ and therefore Fuego and Zillion ( identical )

Who got that problem ? ME.

I own a Kistler Magnesium and have no complaints. This rod fits all three of the reals I have fitted to it for test fittings or accual fishing. The older Curado, Pflueger Summit and the Johnny Morris of BPS fame. This rod is a killer for the bucks spent. I love it and will purchase a another one soon. I hope it helps.

I had a couple of the Magnesiums and the reels I use fit just fine. Revo's,President's,Trion's,Supreme's. I have since sold all of the Mags and continued to buy the Heliums and have no reel seat issues with those either.

The reason I quit buying the Mags was because it seemed like the power ratings were a bit off. (ex. MH felt like a M......H felt like a MH etc....) I just couldnt get what I was looking for but they were real nice rods and feather light. I dont have any complaints whatsoever with the Heliums.

Want my opinion?  Go with the Crucial in my opinion almost as good as rod and you will save money.  Will the Kistler be more sensitive, maybe a hair.  But I will say this the Crucial is still very sensitive and won't cause you to lose any fish by not being able to feel them.  Most of my rods from now on are going to be Crucials because they offer a superior rod at a great price and definately could get away with charging more if they wanted to.  Not to mention the over the counter warranty is a big plus.

I do agree With Fivebasslimits last post about the tip being a little soft, but this is how I like Flippin sticks to be. Both my Kistler and Grandt Flippin sticks are that way. Never buy any rod without holding it first.

He's right, I just tried to put my new TDZ on a Mg 7'8" All day Flippin Stick and it fit a little loose. >:o When I really tighten down it is not noticable. BTW I am not bashing Kistler rods,(I own six of them from the Mg's to He2) just stating what Raul said is true. My new He2 came with Fuji reel seat so this should no longer be a problem. ;)

Get  a shimano cant beat the price and that warrenty, and not much diff in sensitivity i held my buddys compared to mine its a little lighter but not by much,Airrius is a good one also

the XL_ULTRA shoule be fine they have a hev 7ft6 that would be killer for flipping /// just IMO ;D

Thanks guys, I ended up getting the kistler, but not the flippin stick, I went with the 7ft. Heavy jig and toad rod.  For the type of brush and cover we fish here in Indiana, It seemed like plenty of rod and I loved how light it was.  I could tell a difference in holding it compared to the Crucial. Plus I really didnt want a telescopic rod so this was actually perfect for what I needed.

Thanks for all your input,
