I'm in the process of changing the drag washers to some of my reel and upgrading the ball bearings.

I have seen a diagram  of the areas by the drive gear that require grease, I think that Raul posted but I can't find it after a good hour of searching the site, can someone help with this?

Appreciated, I don't want to leave a critical part uncovered.

Here.

Just a point that needs clarification, in that tutorial the writer greases the worm gear, I do not agree with such procedure and I believe RM is in the same frequency, the worm gear is exposed to the elements, greasing it will cause the worm gear to trap dirt and debris turning that grease into a very powerful abrassive paste that will cause excessive wear of the worm gear and levelwind pinon reducing the life of both elements. Oil is what I 've used in all my reels for over 2 decades and none shows signs of wear in those parts.

Thanks a lot. I don't put grease either in anything exposed.

By the way, do you have any idea where to find one those ball bearing retention clips for a TD-Z, I lost the one from the side plate :'( and I already gave up looking for it in the floor of my office. :-[

Check your reel 's schematics and order the part directly to Daiwa, normally in small parts they don 't even charge you.

Thanks again, I have 10 on the way. They were nice on the phone.

This is the second TD-Z I got from Cabelas, it is the driest reel I have seen, no a drop of lubricant anywhere. Advice for those who own them.

When you oil and grease the reel take extra precautions with the drag system, the slightest contamination of the washers with lubricants cause the drag to pulsate, on the other hand, since you are going to disassemble the reel consider upgrading the drag washers for Carbontex washers.  :o

Thanks I did, and I was in the process  of changing the ball bearings to TG Rockets when I lost the clip retainer  :-[

Because of the tolerances that TG's bearings are built to, I would also recommend that you purchase their yellow rocket fuel, but also be ready to oil often...

Absolutely if you said so, I was using # 778 . I'm getting good at this.....so far only a lost retainer clip and a destroyed spool trying to get the pin out :'(

Well, lesson learned, itsy bitsy teeny tiny reel parts DO HAVE a mind of their own. Like them lil springs that jump out of the reel at warp speed when you remove the sideplate.  :-/

The 778 oil we use is good up to ABEC5's, the bearing packs you purchased are in the ABEC7 range. With those tighter tolerances you need a lighter viscosity oil like the YRF. But as I said before, "you will have to re-oil more often".
