ford_man Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 I am having a conflict between which reel i should pick. I have codensed it down to two reels they are the abu garcia revo stx and the quantum pt tour addition. please post which one you would pick. Quote
HomersTomaco Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 without a doubt the revo stx. hell I would probably buy a revo s instead of the quantum. Although the revo's are new and no one knows if they will hold up over time, its already been proven that the quantum PT wont hold up over time, so why buy it? Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted April 8, 2007 Super User Posted April 8, 2007 Revo STX 100% you wont be dissapointed Quote

Actually they have been out for 8 months fished hard by pros and avid anglers with no complaints BUT will they take the place of the c,3 in decades of great relaible fishing is the Question?? Quote
Super User 5bass Posted April 9, 2007 Super User Posted April 9, 2007 I have no use for anything that Quantum puts out. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 9, 2007 Super User Posted April 9, 2007 I've used Abu Garcia reels for twenty-four years with zero problems, my choice would be the Revo STX. Falcon Quote
linesider7 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I didn't realize that quantum was viewed so badly by so many. Good to know... Quote
vicdotcom Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I didn't realize that quantum was viewed so badly by so many. Good to know... From what I heard they were really hitting the gutter. But they were bought by another company that turned it arround. Again just something I heard from my local rod and reel. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 Hmm... I was thinking Shimano Curado. : Quote
largemouthslayer Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 i'm with road warrior something about a curado just look at non sponsored pros and some sponsored check bass mag march old pic of greg hackney look at what he was using before a big quantam pay check or the rookie that won this years first BASS tournament he was using an old green curado Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 When I bought my last reel, I also considered a Revo STX. Great looking reel, smooth, but decided to go with the Curado. The Revo hasn't been out all that long, personally for me, I will look at it again in 6mo-1yr to see how they are holding up. I bought the 100 dsv & absolutely love it. Roadwarrior is right, shimanos are ridiculously smooth. I can see using this reel 10 yrs+ from now. Quote
litterbox Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I also bought the Curado instead of the STX. The Curado just felt better for some reason. I am also used to Shimano, I'm not one that wants to be in for surprises when I am out on the water. Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 For longevity between the two brands I would pick Garcia® Tight Lines!!! Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 I don't own a Revo, so I can't comment on it. I do own six Quantum PT's, three spinning and three baitcasters. All six have performed flawlessly. I dont' know where the bad rap on Quantum originated. I've had very good experience with their PT series reels. I also have a few old Abu's that still work after twenty years of use. Are they as smooth as my new reels? Of course not, they never were. But they still work. Abu's have a well deserved reputation for longevity. I don't think you'd go wrong with either choice. Cheers, GK Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 Another vote for Abu. Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I will NEVER get another quantum. The last one I got literally fell apart within within 2 weeks. I say stick with the garcias all the way. I've never had trouble with an Abu Garcia. Quote
