NHfroggin Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 just wondering how good these rods are. i was looking at a 6'6' mh baitcaster. they look good for the price only $40. thanks bassmaster6 Quote
aggiebassin Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 they are probably the best $40 rod out there.....probably as good as some $60-$70 rods Quote
Super User Marty Posted April 9, 2007 Super User Posted April 9, 2007 I have one Lightning Rod that I bought a couple of years ago for $25. I think it's a fine rod for the money. Quote
Cephkiller Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I'm not sure if they're worth $40, but BPS has the Hank Parker 6'6" MH on clearance for $30. I would jump on that if I needed a budget rod. Quote
krisjack69 Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Does thes rods have hook keepers on them? http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?k=56929&sk=50172&u=LRS#zoom-/dimg/PURLRS601M.jpg Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 Many people dont remember this, but when the Lightning rods first came out they were quite the rod. The spiral graphite LR series in either 5' 2", 5'6" or 6' was quite a rod for the time. I've still got a couple of old mid 80's LR rods and pick them up every once in awhile and am still amazed at how light and good those rods feel in your hand. Truely way ahead of their time back then and the price was only around $30-40, which for a rod of that calibur was quite a deal. Quote
Clayton Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I have four of them! i use the 7' mh paired with the BpS extreme. I found a deal on ebay where you can get 4 of them for 90 bucks if you play your cards right. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 Pretty good rods for the money. I still have two. A 7' medium and a 6' ML, both spinning rods. I use them every time we take a trip up north, and I know that walleye fishing is part of the game plan. $30 for the Hank Parker version is a good deal. 4 for 90 bucks is a heck of a deal. Cheers, GK Quote
