slawdawg Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 What have you found are the best colors of worms to fish during the day? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 10, 2007 Super User Posted September 10, 2007 Use your favorite colors, the fish don't care. My favorite color is "dark". I fish watermelon with black flakes, watermelon with black & red flakes, green pumpkin w/ black flakes and black w/ blue flakes. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 10, 2007 Super User Posted September 10, 2007 Use the color you like the most or have the most confidence in. I remember back in the old days when pro 's and celebrities like RM, BD or JH used to talk about which worm colors you should have in your T box: Black Red Blue Green Purple Which actually doesn 't describe anything at all, how many hues you can find in each basic colors, chartreuse is green-ish, but so is watermelon and so on, now to that how manu combinations of two or more colors you can have, add to that flakes in different colors and you will end up with a rainbow of colors and all of them work. CJ Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I agree that color doesn't make alot of difference to the fish, however making your lure more visible to the fish does.Water clarity has something to do with it,IMO.I favor dark colors most of time because I fish worms deep.Plum, green pumkin, and pumpkin green flake, just to name a few.I go with darker colors for stained or muddy water and natural colors for clear water. All that said,I was playin' around one day fishing ledges,I caught fish on 7 different colored worms. The water was slighty stained that day.Black to chartuese motor oil and the rest inbetween. Quote

WhiteMike1018 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I caught one the the biggest bass of my life yesterday on a black shad culprit worm. As a general rule i like colors that stand out more in dirty water and natural or less offensive colors in clear water. Yesterday the water I was fishing was somewhat on the clear side, and I was using the black shad culprit worm. The thing I like about this color is on the top it is a light black, and on the bottom a greyish kind of clear color. If you ever look at a species chart containing freshwater fish, almost always youll find there is not a fish that swims that dosen't have a darker back than its belly. So in this case it was a good worm choice for a scenario where visibility was high. Of couse Ive caught fish with much brighter colors even in very clear water, but again it all comes down to confidence. Quote
ABC123 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Black, pumpkin, and watermelon are the only color's I can say attract fish for me. I've caught fish with other colors, but when fishing is slow, it seems those colors get the fish to bite. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 Red Shad, Black Shad, and "motor oil" Quote

BrockSamson Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 What have you found are the best colors of worms to fish during the day? Tequila Sunrise is my go to. Watermelon seed w/ black flakes is another fave You can't go wrong with Motor Oil either. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Red Shad, Camo, Black, Green Pumpkin blk flk, Watermelon blk flk, Watermelon red, Cinnamon Brown, Pumpkinseed, Pumpkinseed Grn Fleck, Pumpkinseed blk flk, All of these colors get the job done for me. I have seen alot of people using some color that is like black or greyish, with tons of silver flecks in it. Dunno what the color is called but was wondering if theres anything to it? As Ive seen many people using it. Anyone know? Quote
Mike B Fishin Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Any Color as long as it is Red Shad. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 My two fav colors are the Pumpkinseed that Yamamoto puts out - almost an orange-ish color rather than the drab brown you see from all the other baits. My other go to color is yellow (not chartreuse) with black fleck, it is one of the hardest colors to find, also. I scarf em all up when I see em. Quote
