I have fished ABUs 5500 and 6500 all my life. I want to try a low profile to go on my 6'6" med crankin stick. Any recommendations?

Thanks

i fish with the Pflueger summit LP and it is very low profile and is geared at 7.1:1. awesome reel and runs about 160 dollars. another for around 80 dollars and is great for the price is the bass pro shops extreme reels. i have a friend who fishes the ABU revo's and they are from $99 to $200. all of these are the reels of my choice and if i could only pick one it would be the summit.

Depending on your price parameters:

Shimano Citica, Curado, Chronarch MG or Calais.

These reels are strong, silent and smooth.  With proper maintenance they will last a lifetime. Although I have given some of my reels away over the years, as far as I know, every Shimano I have ever owned is still in use. Shimano reels are good-to-go right out of the box, but oddly, they improve with time.

There are many other high quality brands, but there is only one Shimano.

I own a few Abu Black Max 3600's (and one 5600) and decided to upgrade after 7 years.  I love the Shimano spinning reels but I decided to stick with Abu's (since my Black Max's provided years of dependable service) on my baitcasters.  I purchased 3 Revo SX's and love them!

The Black Max's will definitely stay in the rotation!  Which is why I decided to stay with Abu and purchase the Revo's!  The bait monkey has hit my wallet hard this year and it is only the beginning of April!

Revo is one hell of a reel but WAY TOO FAST i would never put a 7:1 on a crankbait rod unless it was just for lipless cranks get a 5:1 Shimano Curado or Shimano Citica they're made for cranking, I have 2 of the old Curados in 5:1 and they have to be hands down my favorite cranking reels, good luck on your search and make sure you feel the reel on the rod before you make a decision, the new shimanos look bulky but feel amazing on a rod.

WOW!!!! All these high cost reels.

If you are looking for a reel to go on your cranking rod that will not break the bank then a great first time reel that will last you for years is the Bass Pro Shops, David Fritts signature reel. It is designed for crankbaits and will cast a freaking mile.

I just got a Team Daiwa Advantage 150P for cranking and after 3 trips I love it. It's closer to a 100 size Shimano and it casts fantastic. Great value IMO.

Hop,

I would go with a Citica, happy shoping.  Watch out for that Bait Monkey, he will get you.  Let us know what you decided to get, and how it is working out for you.
