The original is pretty dang soft...it's been a while since I fished it, and I found it to be softer than I remembered.  No memory or castability issues.  It was much softer than the pline CXX that I'm used to.  I can't imagine why you would need it any softer....maybe it's just me.

The Ultra Soft has virtually no memory in use. The differences between the original Hybrid and Ultra Soft are most noticeable spooled on spinning tackle and when it is cold. BPS still has 1000 yard spools of original on sale for $6.99. I picked up two #6, a #4 and #12 so I'll be switching back and forth between Ultra Soft and original going forward, I like them both.

Thanks to RW for reccomending this line. Its truly the best ive ever fished with both the original and the ultra soft. If you havent tried it, you might want to reconsider. Super tough too -WM

RW, is there a significant difference, or shall I say noticeable difference in handling, between the Y-soft  in #6 and #8 test?

No, but there is little advantage in using #8. #6 rates 11.9 lb breaking strength, #8 is 13 lb. I'm a fan of going the other way, I prefer #4 (.009" diameter). This size in green is almost invisible.

Thanks RW. I have the #6 and I must say, I really like it so far. I put it on my personal smallie rods and it seems to fit the bill. I was curious about the #8 for spinning and green bass. I will not go over #8 on a spinning reel and just wanted a little more umphhh for the spinning and green bass situations. I have yet to have tried the #12 on a couple of my bait casters but, I see trying it in the future. Have a good year. ;)
