DSpayde Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 What is the consensus on spooling stronger line onto baitcasters? I have an older Quantum BC and it has been fished with everything from 10-15lb Stren mono. No problems. Now I want to be able to pull bigger fish out of the weeds and heavy cover, and I am wondering about some of the newer braids and super lines. Any thoughts or suggestions? Quote
ford_man Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 braided line is great for flippin lilly pads in the spring with a moss mouse, a toad softbait, or a spro frog. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted April 3, 2007 Super User Posted April 3, 2007 50lb Power Pro, you will love it! JMHO Ronnie Quote
Walkingboss Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Braid will give your old reel a bright future....It's come a long way in the last few years. I prefer Power Pro myself, but have also used Stren's version with no complaints. It lasts forever (relatively), doesn't absorb water, doesn't stretch (which can be a bad thing) and saws through weeds like a serial killer. I love it for my topwater frogs, spinnerbaits, and some cranks. I've even fished it on texas rigged senko's and did no worse than my buddy fishing mono. Big jig n pigs through heavy vegitation, really, any application. The lack of stretch can pull hooks out of fish, especially on crankbaits, but rod choice can minimize that, as well as some common sense on the hook set. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 3, 2007 Super User Posted April 3, 2007 i'm thinking of putting 10/4 sufix on my spinning rod. Quote
