jasone Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Anyone have this reel? Opnions? Or should I just save up and go to the Energy PT? Thanks J Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 jasone, IMPO, I would save up and not look any lower than the PT series if I were purchasing a Quantum® reel. But then if your looking at $180.00 reels a few bucks more will get you into Shimano®. Just my .02¢ Good luck in your search Tight Lines!! Quote
NEBassMan Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 I have 3 of the Quantum Accurist II's. Absolutely love them, especially for the price. Have never had a problem with them. Jason Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 1, 2007 Super User Posted April 1, 2007 I have a brand new Accurist II, have yet to fish it this year, will report back when I get some time on it. This is my first Quantum in about 15 years, I had nothing but trouble with them back in the early 90's and swore them off..........I am trying the accurist just to see how, if any, Quantums quality has improved. If I hate it, it will be replaced with a Daiwa ASAP. Quote
jasone Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 Thanks guys. I really like Daiwas but the only reel they have below $100 buck is the procaster. I have one Quantum. Its a cheapy Mantra in LH. I put it on my St. Croix and that combo is my absolute fav. Thanks again for the replys. J Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 1, 2007 Super User Posted April 1, 2007 Don't be so quick too turn your nose up at the Procaster, I have been using one for 3 years now, zero problems. Good reel for the $$. I am talking about the 100HL (black reel). I am however gradually moving towards higher end stuff. For my next reel purchase I am going to crack the $100 barrier.....LOL a big milestone for me. But I have 8 spinning reels, and 10 Casting reels now, I just have to wait for something to break/wear out , I don't "need" any more. Quote
jasone Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 Oh, no offense at all toward the procaster. The Accurist had a few nice features (flippin switch for one) that looked attractive. I guess I'm going to have to crack the $100 mark myself. Already did it with rods, just need to do it with reels and get it over with. J Quote
gopherbass Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 You don't have to get an Energy if you want something from the PT series, consider the Accurist PT. I will offer a disclaimer; however, this is by no means a recommendation. Quote
Aaron Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I bought an Accurist last summer. I spooled it up and played around the yard with it and returned it for a Daiwa Advantage (99.99) which was much better. I just didn't like the way the accurist felt. Quote
ford_man Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I would pick the bps extreme that has a flippin switch it is great for lilly pads and is easier to swith on and of. Quote
